How Long Is Star Wars: Squadrons' Single-Player Mode?
Here's how long you can expect the Squadrons campaign to take you to beat.
Star Wars: Squadrons is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. With the last Star Wars game, Jedi: Fallen Order, taking approximately 17 hours to finish its story, players may be curious about how long it will take to complete Squadrons' campaign. Here's what to expect from developer Motive's Star Wars aerial dogfighter.
The main campaign in Star Wars: Squadrons is roughly eight hours long. There are some variables, such as mission length being dependent upon player skill and completing optional side objectives, but the main storyline in Squadrons should take about eight hours to finish.
This is because the main campaign is relatively linear in structure. There aren't many opportunities to explore and, outside main expository cutscenes, Squadrons only contains a few optional conversations between missions that pad out its length and develop its characters. Of course, multiplayer is a major component of Squadrons and could present any number of hours of gameplay.
Squadrons' story is set after the events of Return of the Jedi. Players take control of the Galatic Empire and the New Republic, switching between both sides to get a full picture of the war in space. In our early review impressions, we said that "the campaign of Star Wars: Squadrons is a solid showcase of setpieces that conveys what's possible with the game's engaging flight combat mechanics."
Star Wars: Squadrons is a budget-priced game, retailing for $40 USD instead of the usual $60 or the newer $70 price tag some next-gen games have seen, like NBA 2K21. Publisher Electronic Arts explained the rationale behind Squadrons' pricing, saying the retail value matches the game's scale.
