Here's What Monster Hunter World's First Free DLC Adds
Deviljho is on the way.
Capcom has indicated on a number of occasions that it will support Monster Hunter World with free post-release downloadable content. That includes the addition of new monsters to hunt, the first of which we now have some details about.
With World's release coming up in a few weeks (read our Monster Hunter World review here), Capcom reiterated today that it has plans for "regular content updates, as well as major title updates for free." What it describes as the "first major title update" will launch at some point this spring. It introduces the Deviljho to the game, a monster we've seen in a number of previous entries that will feature some differences in World.
"The Deviljho must feed constantly and will devour anything in its way, even feeding on the largest of monsters with its massive jowls," Capcom explained. "This wild beast really is one for only the bravest of hunters to take on."
It's unclear if the Deviljho will be the only thing included in the update or how often we'll see new DLC packs released. Free DLC for the recent Monster Hunter entries on 3DS, such as Generations, have often consisted of gear based on crossovers with other game franchises--such as Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Metroid, Mega Man, Fire Emblem, and Devil May Cry--along with bonus resources and items. In addition to PS4-exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn gear, we know Mega Man-themed equipment is also on the way to World.
Monster Hunter World releases for PS4 and Xbox One on January 26, followed by a PC version this fall. A final PS4 beta has just been announced alongside the release of a new trailer showcasing some of World's Elder Dragons. Capcom also revealed a limited-edition Monster Hunter PS4 controller and Starter Pack bundles, though those have only been announced for Japan so far.
