As you probably already knew from GameSpot's giveaway, Evolve's Big Alpha test kicks off on Xbox One on October 30, and PlayStation 4 and PC on October 31. Recently, developer Turtle Rock Studios revealed what the Big Alpha will include, and what kind of PC you'll need to run it.
If you participate in the Big Alpha, you'll be able to play eight out of the total of 12 Hunters, two of the announced Monsters, and three maps in the game's Hunt mode.
The Big Alpha will also let you experiment with the game's progression system, which works on two levels: Character Progression and Player Progression.
Character Progression refers to experience earned within the match that you can use to improve your character's skills, weapons, and abilities. When you master one character completely, you'll unlock the next character in that class, be it a Monster or a Hunter.
Player Progression refers to experience that goes towards your overall player rank, regardless of class. There are 40 levels in all, and you'll earn perks that you can select before a match along the way. Some examples of perks include weapon switching speed, damage bonus, health regeneration, and smell range.
You can find even more details about the progression system on Evolve's website.
Finally, if you plan on playing the Big Alpha on PC, these are the minimum and recommended specs, though keep in mind that they are not final. Turtle Rock said that it still has a lot of optimizing to do before the game ships on February 10.
