Homeworld in the Skies
Sierra's upcoming Homeworld will be previewed in the air as well as the ground.
As Sierra Studios' anticipated Homeworld, developed by Relic Entertainment, nears release the company is stepping up its marketing focus, this time to the friendly skies.
Homeworld will be featured in a 60-second in-flight program called The High Tech Minute, which will be shown on Delta and America west domestic flights in September. This is perhaps the first time that a computer game has been actively featured on in-flight domestic programs. The Homeworld preview will be viewed by an estimated 1.1 million passengers.
"We're always talking about 'out of the box' marketing programs and this was an opportunity we had to seize," said Jim Veevaert, director of marketing for Sierra Studios. "There's an amazing consumer demand for the title - with this in-flight outreach, we are hoping to attract a new consumer, one that is not necessarily reading the gaming trades, but wants a fun game for his/her PC."
