How Gen V Will Handle Chance Perdomo's Death In Season 2

Season 2 is now filming.

Comments

Gen V actor Chance Perdomo tragically passed away earlier this year in a motorcycle accident, just before Season 2 was due to begin filming. The producers said they would take their time to "recraft" the Season 2 storylines in the wake of Perdomo's death, subsequently saying they would not recast Perdomo's character, Andre Anderson. Now we know how Gen V will handle Perdomo's death in Season 2.

Eric Kripke, who created The Boys and also works on Gen V, told TV Line (via Collider) that instead of replacing Perdomo with someone new playing Andre Anderson, his character will die on the show.

"First, it's just so unbelievably tragic, and my heart goes out to his family," Kripke said. "We're not trying to replace him because we can't. We're playing the character's death on the show. So it's very heavy and it's really emotionally difficult for the cast. And we're just trying to honor Chance as best we can."

Perdomo was just 27 when he passed away in a motorcycle accident. "Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person," the producers said.

Also in the interview, Kripke discussed the casting of Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass) as the new dean of Gen V's superhero school, Godolkin University. He said the character, Cipher, is a trained scientist who is politically brilliant and also "really scary."

"I've wanted to work with [Hamish] forever. He was so unbelievable in [Midnight Mass]. He's a very complicated, mysterious character. I'm excited for people to see him," Kripke said.

Gen V Season 2 is filming now, but there is no word yet on a release date. Whenever it's ready, it will stream on Prime Video, just like The Boys. Season 4 of The Boys, meanwhile, premieres on June 13.
