How To Defeat And Kill Robots In Atomfall

At some point during your Atomfall playthrough, you'll come across a massive, hulking robot. These robots are all over Atomfall and can come in a few different types. The most frightening of these robots is one with flamethrowers for arms, but all robots pose serious threats regardless of where you are.

If you have tried to engage any robot, you might have discovered that it can be extremely difficult to kill them. Grenades, bullets, and even explosions will only put a dent in the robot's exterior, which can be frustrating if you need to get by them to complete an objective. Fortunately, all robots in Atomfall have one major weakness that you can exploit to fully disable them.

How to kill robots in Atomfall

There's a general process that you want to follow when dealing with any kind of robot in Atomfall. You don't want to just chuck explosives at the robot's feet or shoot bullets anywhere on its exterior armor.

Instead, you want to aim right at the robot's visor on their helmets. This visor houses the robot's scanner and vision, and if you knock it out, the robots will only be able to guess as to where you are. Of course, it still seems like the robots have a general idea of where you are even without their vision, but this still helps nonetheless.

Once the robots are blind, you want to keep aiming and shooting at their visor. Or, if you're dealing with a flamethrower robot, shoot at the fire cannisters that extend on either side of the robot's helmet until both of them start to steam.

Eventually, once you've done enough damage to the robots, you'll get a message on your HUD that states the following: "Extract Batteries." When you see this message, the robot will be standing in place, and more steam will start to flow out from its body. As soon as this happens, get right over to the robot and walk behind it. Here, you'll see a B.A.R.D. Battery is sticking out, and you're given the option to extract it by holding the interact button.

If you successfully extract the battery, the robot shuts down. You're also given a free Atomic Battery, which comes is helpful in the Interchange location and for other quests in Atomfall. However, if you wait too long to extract the battery from the robot, it powers back on, and you have to deal all the damage you originally dealt again to try and extract the battery.

This is the only effective way to kill robots in Atomfall. There are different types that might change up your strategy, but they all have a battery that needs to be extracted in order for their threat to be neutralized.
