How to Get New Xbox One for $200

If you're willing to part with your Xbox 360 or PS3, this Best Buy deal could save you a lot.

In the market for a new Xbox One and have some old systems you're willing to part with? If so, Best Buy has a new deal you may want to consider. Now through October 3, Best Buy will pay you as much as $150 in credit towards the purchase of a new Xbox One, meaning you can get the system for as little as $200.

Here's how it works. Trade in any working Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and you'll receive a $75 coupon. If that system is a Xbox 360 250 GB E Series model or the PS3 250 GB slim system, you get an additional $75, for a net of $150. Apply that to the starting cost of a new Xbox One ($350) and you can get a system for $200.

To be considered in working condition, consoles must be able to power on and can't be damaged or have their warranty seal broken. In addition, you'll need to include the console's AC adapter/power cord. Best Buy also warns that this offer is not available everywhere and some stores may have additional limitations. As always, it's a good move to call ahead before heading out. This trade-in promo is available in stores only.

@Guy_Brohski: If you take off your fanboy goggles for 2 seconds, you can admit that neither one really has many good exclusives...yet. However, PS4 is the only one to have a AAA exclusives over 90 metacritic, so there's that.

@Pyrosa: GameStop had a trade-in credit of $150 for an Xbox 360 or PS3 back in April. I traded in an Xbox 360(the first Slim model) *AND* a PS3(the first Slim model) and got a total credit of $300 towards an Xbox One. Lol. They had a similar deal for a PS4 two months before, too.

So far, it looks like the models I traded in(250GB Xbox 360 Slim & 120GB PS3 Slim) are no longer being accepted. Sux for people trying to get a new console nowadays!

It's 2015. I'm sure nobody has a working 360 anymore. I sold mine in 08 towards a PS3, cause the warranty was about to expire.

@ArunabhaGoswami: Let's see. My first one died in a year and a month. My second and third died within six months. The original 360 had a 100% failure rate. The 360 S works, but it was five years too late. I'm not counting it.

@DrunkenPunk800: All systems have a 100% failure rate if you push them hard enough and/or wait long enough for them to fail... I have an original xbox 360 arcade edition (with an old xbox 360 80GB HDD a friend gave me) and it's still working. Doesn't get used much but it never died or RROD'd on me.

One thing I heard is if you don't have the game downloaded on the 360 it won't come through the backwards comp. ie try to get free upgrade castle crashers if you don't have the game downloaded on the 360 it will not work. Once you download it you can get the free upgrade price. Not sure if this is entirely true but has anyone else heard of this?

@jeb_leeds: The solution is this:

1) Go to Xbox.com and sign in with your Xbox Live credentials

2) Search for the title you've already bought on 360 and click on the box art for it to go to it's page.

3) As you've already bought the game, the download will be marked as 'Already Purchased'

4) Click on 'Download to Xbox 360' - this also queues the game on Xbox One.

Tested this myself with Borderlands (I'm in the preview program)

@7tizz: I advice on anyone trading there last-gen consoles cause last-gen is still being supported and I sure as hell wouldn't do that to PS3 due to no BC on PS4. But hey, so what you will, I just don't see why giving up last-gen is a good idea to anyone.
