How to Get New Xbox One for $200

If you're willing to part with your Xbox 360 or PS3, this Best Buy deal could save you a lot.

In the market for a new Xbox One and have some old systems you're willing to part with? If so, Best Buy has a new deal you may want to consider. Now through October 3, Best Buy will pay you as much as $150 in credit towards the purchase of a new Xbox One, meaning you can get the system for as little as $200.

Here's how it works. Trade in any working Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 and you'll receive a $75 coupon. If that system is a Xbox 360 250 GB E Series model or the PS3 250 GB slim system, you get an additional $75, for a net of $150. Apply that to the starting cost of a new Xbox One ($350) and you can get a system for $200.

No Caption Provided

To be considered in working condition, consoles must be able to power on and can't be damaged or have their warranty seal broken. In addition, you'll need to include the console's AC adapter/power cord. Best Buy also warns that this offer is not available everywhere and some stores may have additional limitations. As always, it's a good move to call ahead before heading out. This trade-in promo is available in stores only.

More details about Best Buy's trade-in program are available here.

Or you can sell your PS3/Xbox360 for more than 150$ on eBay and get the PS4/Xbox One for even less (from a retailer that doesn't think your an idiot)...

@livedreamplay: This would be necessary considering i have removed cleaned replaced thermal paste on my 360's as it was needed. This means my warranty seal is broken. Kinda stupid with a console this old to expect people to keep them running without opening for cleaning/maintenance

@anthonybecky: Even if you wouldn't have removed it, price-wise the eBay route would be more beneficial...

This isn't getting an xbox one for $200. It's getting an xbox one for $200 plus a game console.

"Hey, want to get a ps4 for only $100?"
"Sure! How!?"

Problem is that the console for which they're giving 150$ in trade-in value are the latest models from last gen.

Meaning that your X360 or PS3 would have to be 2yo or less...

Problem is current (Next?) gen consoles have been out for 2years already.

So there probably won't be a lot of people bringing back their latest PS3/X360 otherwise they wouldn't have bought it so soon from "Next"gen release...

It's not a bad deal to get a new Xbox One. I basically did this with my PS3 to get my Xbox One at launch. I hated to lose my Uncharted games , the Last of Us and some of my other games though,. I've been able to get some of the remasters back on PS4, so all is good now. You won't hear me birch about the remasters, they worked out good for me.

@beuneus12: Same here. This is tempting but I'll be waiting for the ps4 price drop/black friday deals that are sure to be better than this. Not to mention I don't lose an entire console that way.

My backwards compatible launch day PS3 feels worth a little more than $75. Keeps me from having to buy older systems.

I guess it's not a bad deal, but if you have a bunch of games for your last gen console, I wouldn't do it.

@louixiii: I couldn't agree more. Sounds like a good deal to upgrade another system in the house (already have one One) then I look over at hundreds of games that I could only hope get backwards compatibility on the One. Nah i'll just keep my 360.

@Rodney422:I'm saying i've got hundreds of 360 games, and there's no guarantee that they will all be BC on the xbox one. If they could do that i'd trade in the three 360's still currently used in my house.

That would be a good deal if I wasn't happy with my PS3 and 360! I already got a PS4 collecting dust, I don't need another next-gen system sitting on the shelf! lol.....seriously though, I know the games are coming, but I just feel like I can wait.

This article is pretty silly. Frankly it should've just said:

"Sell stuff that knocks the price down to $200, or if you're feeling extra saucy, sell more and get pay even less in cash. Bam. That just happened"

Meh. I'll just wait for the black Friday special that bundles Forza 6, Halo, Elite: Dangerous, and an extra controller for $299. That way I can keep my PS3.

IF you have some xbox 360 games that were published by some of Publishers that ARE supporting the XBOX ONE Backwards Compatibility app, and IF you are willing to wait until November for the App to be released to the public then i'd say go for this offer, Because you WILL be able to continue playing your favorite games on the XBOX ONE (depending on what game it is).

HOWEVER if you have a PS3 then I wouldn't trade that beauty in (ESPECIALLY if its a Backwards Compatible model). At this moment Sony has NO plans to implement Physical Backwards Compatibility for the PS4, so I'd hold on to that Console for as long as possible. if you have Both, the Xbox 360 and the PS3 and you do not wish to trade EITHER in (like I refused to do) then wait until Black Friday or see if you can get a good deal on an XBOX ONE and PS4

@virtuasega: with ONLY PS1/PS2 games? Nice! with the PS3 games however will be kind of impossible to do with that Cell Processor engine the PS3 has. IF Sony does go with Backwards Compatibility then make it PHYSICAL Backwards Compatibility with PS1/PS2. Please Don't half-ass this Sony.

I WILL be checking up on this rumor now. Thanks for letting me know about this, because when the President of Sony (Shuhei Yoshida) expressed his interest and shock about the Xbox Ones backwards compatibility, I believe he said that there were (at then time) NO plans for backwards compatibility for the PS4, Maybe Sony has changed their minds to try and best Microsoft, which really doesn't matter because The PS4 has (for the most part) a huge lead over the XBOX ONE, despite the XBONE getting much better as a gaming console and community since 2013.

Still Kudos to the Microsoft for making this happen and more kudos to Sony for thinking more about it.

@sonofdark18: For PS3 games they have PS Now I think. But you have to pay and games are closed once you expired and you have to pay again to re use.

@kachan64: which is the MAIN reason why I mentioned that everyone should NOT trade in their PS3 (especially if its Backwards compatible) becuase while PSNOW is a nice way to expand on playing old games, There is no reason why we should have to pay to play old games that we OWN PHYSICALLY.

But it does not help that Sony wrote themselves into a corner with the PS3s cell engine, which I hear is hard to emulate for the X86 engine.

I like how many Playstation fanboys hop over to flame the Xbox One on an Xbox news article. Sad.

Besides, anyone worth their salt knows it's neither is better and PC is the better platform.

GameStop had a trade-in credit of $150 for an Xbox 360 or PS3 back in April. I traded in an Xbox 360(the first Slim model) *AND* a PS3(the first Slim model) and got a total credit of $300 towards an Xbox One. Lol. They had a similar deal for a PS4 two months before, too.

So far, it looks like the models I traded in(250GB Xbox 360 Slim & 120GB PS3 Slim) are no longer being accepted. Sucks for people trying to get a new console nowadays!

TL;DR: Traded in my Xbox 360, PS3, got a $300 credit towards an Xbox One and I added a Play-n-charge kit, so I paid less than $80 total for all my stuff. :D

@carman151515: These damn 'tales of' games are killing me, I put 300+ hrs on tales of graces f alone. bought these games during digital flash sales for hardly nothing to, very fun games. They also make the best media/roku devices ever, and I still use the living room one as my 3d video player using blu ray or media files. Sob.... 3d, just a fad nowadays, but kids still love it.

ps4 is my dedicated Dragons age inquisition and D3 player, it would seem. And my xbox one .... dust collector as it would seem, played the halo collection for several hours then just cannot get back into it.

I went to the link and it said $40

Since I couldn't find it I googled this and another site said either $150 trade in could be applied to anything not just an Xbox one.
