The Madden NFL 16 freebie is available now through these links: Xbox One, PS4. Note that Xbox One owners can only play for 10 hours, while the PS4 version has no time limit. The free play period comes to a close at 12 AM EST on Monday, November 23 (or potentially earlier if you're playing on Xbox One).
All progress carries forward if you elect to buy the game when the free weekend comes. On Xbox One, Madden NFL 16 is marked down to $36 as part of Microsoft's Black Friday sale. EA Access members can save 10 percent more.
As for NBA 2K16, it's free right now on Xbox One for Xbox Live Gold members. Like Madden 16, you'll get to play the full game, but there is no time limit. This weekend offer ends at 11:59 PM PST on November 22. In addition, as announced previously, all progress will carry forward to the full game.
If you don't have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, Microsoft is offering them for $1 for new subscribers as part of a limited-time promotion.
Neither weekend free play promotion is available on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. For more on both games, check out GameSpot's reviews of Madden NFL 16 and NBA 2K16.
