IGF 2002: Impossible Creatures update
Relic's 3D real-time strategy game featuring mutant animals will be shown at Microsoft's International Games Festival.
Microsoft and Relic Entertainment will be showing Impossible Creatures, their upcoming 3D real-time strategy game based on mutant animal combat, at the International Games Festival in Las Vegas today. The game, which was previously known as Sigma, is set in the 1930s on a series of remote islands. It lets players create their own genetically altered monsters to do battle against creatures controlled by an evil villain trying to take over the world.
Impossible Creatures features more than 50 animals that can be mixed and matched to create a huge number of mutant creatures. Different creatures will have different abilities, so part of the strategy is seeing what type of creatures the enemy has built, and then building an army that will counter that of the enemy.
The game will include a complete single-player campaign with 15 missions, 14 distinct islands, and dozens of creatures. It will also feature multiplayer support for up to six players, and it will let players build their creatures offline and store them for future battles.
Impossible Creatures is scheduled for release this summer. We'll have more details about the game from the show floor. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game. We'll be posting more information about the IGF games from the show floor.
