Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Release Date Set, PS5 Version Confirmed

This is an Indy game.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a big departure for MachineGames, as despite taking place in first-person like the Wolfenstein series, it places a franchise-appropriate emphasis on investigation and exploration over brutal, violent murder sprees. In a new gameplay presentation at Gamescom Opening Night Live, we learned just where Indy will be exploring, as well as a few of the tools he has at his disposal.

We also got a release date of December 9, 2024 for the Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass versions, along with confirmation of a PS5 release coming in Spring 2025. According to The Verge, Microsoft is internally aiming for an April release date, though it hasn't been nailed down yet.

Rather than stick to one location for Dr. Jones' mission to put everything in a museum, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will send you to a variety of destinations. These include the Vatican, the Himalayas, and Sukhothai temples, but Indy won't just waltz into these places in his signature fedora and hope no one notices him. Instead, he'll make use of a number of disguises--for instance, he can dress as a priest to explore the Vatican, which makes sense, and MachineGames is putting an emphasis on slower, stealthy gameplay.

For those who have played the studio's Wolfenstein games, this shouldn't come as a huge surprise, but your options will be a little less lethal when dealing with unsuspecting enemies here. You can throw objects like a hammer or shovel to distract baddies in classic video-game fashion, but you can also use Indy's whip for some more-inspired takedowns--see a metal barrel and want to yank a Nazi directly into it? Go for it.

Alongside his trusty whip, Indiana Jones also has a camera that can be used both for getting historical information about the environments and discovering clues on what to do. Utilizing clues at your disposal will be key to solving puzzles, and these can be found both by traversing the environment and examining Indy's journal. The pen might not actually be mightier than the sword, but it can still be more helpful.

At this point stick a fork them they are done. I have no more interest in Microsoft or their consoles as well as Sony's. PC will be what I stick to after this this generation since most games will be day and date anyway.

The rumors about PS5 were true. I wonder what happens next. Is Microsoft gradually releasing more and more new AAA games on Playstation 5 in less than six months after their initial release? Could for example Perfect Dark get a fall 2025 release and arrive in spring 2026 on PS5?

If Microsoft does not sell enough consoles and enough games on Pc maybe they feel like they need to sell more games on Ps5 to get a return on their investments on the game development. It is an interesting story to follow, their ongoing strategy change. Are they changing strategy totally, or just adjusting the strategy? What next?

And could we still get a Ps5 Pro or Xbox Series X Pro? Or do we not get a middle generation console? Perhaps not.

Gamepass people are lucky they only have to pay $20 for it because it doesn't look worth more than that tbh 😅

Firstly a release date Finally! I'll be playing it day 1 on Game Pass on my Series X! Also, glad to see it coming to PS5 as well. Reason being I don't agree with taking worldwide beloved, well-established IP and locking it down to one console only. There are millions of Indiana Jones fans spanning 40+ years so everyone should be able to play his latest adventure. (Sorry Nintendo fans).

Now onto this theory that Microsoft are going to just open the floodgates and eventually release ALL of their games on competing platforms. Not gonna happen. At least not for the next decade or so. The fact anyone is shocked that DOOM is still multiplatform, even after the acquisitions by M$ is clueless. DOOM, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Call of Duty and more all sell crazy amounts on multiple platforms. It would be stupid of them to make them Xbox exclusive. However that means they CAN and most likely will keep Xbox's identity by keeping Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable etc. Xbox console-exclusive. After all you still need to give gamers some incentive to buy your box, even if it's not your first priority and you make revenue elsewhere.

@theduckofdeath: Agreed and I also don’t agree with those characters being locked to PS4 / PS5 either.
