Injustice 2's First Tournaments Announced For PS4 Players Worldwide
The Injustice 2 Championship Series begins soon after the game's debut.
Injustice 2 publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced the details of several different esports tournaments set to take place in its upcoming fighting game on PS4.
$600,000 in all is up for grabs for Injustice 2 players across these tournaments, which comprise the game's Championship Series. This includes the Injustice 2 Pro Series, which begins on May 26, not long after the game's release. It will run for four months and be broadcast on Twitch. The final 16 players from North America, Europe, and Latin America will head to the Finals, which are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on September 17.
Those who aren't taking part in the Pro Series will have an alternative path to winning money by playing Injustice 2. The GameStop Hometown Heroes tournament is for players in the US and will have open qualifiers online starting on June 4. Regional Finals will be held in GameStop stores on August 12, followed by the Finals at GameStop's Consumer Expo in Las Vegas on August 27.
Players in Europe and Latin America will each have their own tournaments as well: the Path to Pro tournament and Liga Latina, respectively.
More details on how to register are available on the Injustice 2 esports website. It looks as if you'll need to be playing on PS4 to participate, thanks to a sponsorship by PlayStation.
Injustice 2 launches for PS4 and Xbox One next week. The full roster has now been revealed, and we've started to learn the identity of the game's DLC characters, which include Sub-Zero.
