Internet Explorer Support Officially Ends This November

After 25 years of existence, Microsoft is saying goodbye to Internet Explorer later this year.

Microsoft is ending support for Internet Explorer 11 on November 30, killing off the web browser that has been around for 25 years.

In addition to pulling the plug on Internet Explorer 11 in its entirety, the company confirmed that all remaining Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support IE 11 starting August 17, 2021.

Once both dates lapse, this means any users still insistent on using Internet Explorer 11 will have an experience that can't take advantage of Microsoft's new suite of 365 tools.

Internet Explorer 11 isn't the only Microsoft service to be affected by this recent announcement. The company also stated that the Edge Legacy desktop app, the initial Internet Explorer browser replacement that launched in 2015, will no longer receive new security updates after March 9, 2021. This comes after Microsoft released a new Chromium-based version of Edge earlier in the year.
