Is Matthew Lillard In Scream 7? Here's His Hilarious Response

Matthew Lillard, who played Stu in the first Scream movie, has a great answer about whether he's back for Scream 7.

Nearly three decades ago, Matthew Lillard had a leading role in the first Scream movie as Stu Macher, one the franchise's initial killers. And while Lillard hasn't played Stu since 1996, he had a very funny response when asked about a potential return in Scream 7.

"I am [Neve Campbell's understudy], I've been working on my girl-ish figure. I will have to [shave the beard]. That comes next," Lillard told GameSpot's Chris Hayner during New York Comic Con.

That was Lillard's joking answer. His more serious response was also amusing.

"No, I am not in the movie," added Lillard. "And even if I was, I would lie directly to your face. Until the day it came out, I would just lie to you."

Given the severity of Stu's injuries at the end of Scream, bringing him back would strain credulity for even this franchise. But in the unlikely event this ever happens, Lillard has a plan.

"I would love that," said Lillard. "I would for sure roid out and get super yoked. I'll be like a Marvel superhero, but I'll be Stu, roided out and full of rage."

Thus far, Neve Campbell is the only confirmed cast member returning for Scream 7. Courteney Cox recently disclosed that she hasn't decided whether to return as well. Original Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson will write and direct Scream 7, which will hit theaters on February 27, 2026. As for Lillard, he will be back in Five Nights At Freddy's 2, which debuted its first poster during New York Comic Con.

Umm correct me if I'm wrong here since it's been ages since I've watched these movies but didn't he only have a TV fall on his head? Not exactly a severe injury...

@Simulator_Shock: They took turns stabbing each other as well so he was bleeding pretty bad. Still hope he finally gets the sequel he deserves.

@jerusaelem: Didn't they purposely stab each other in non fatal places to make it look like they weren't the killers or some shit? It's been ages since I've seen the movies...

He wasn't confirmed dead in the original, just had a tv fall on his face. Easily survivable.
