Velly states he's been having issues with his eyes recently. The issue became problematic enough to visit a hospital, but nothing serious was found. However, he was not able to use a computer.
Velly explained the situation further in his statement.
"At the end, they find nothing really serious, just needed some glases adapted to my eyes, witch I got when I went back to France and had to stop computer and every kind of screen for some weeks to relax my eyes and made the double vision disapear.[sic]"
Once it was announced that NiP was able to qualify for the LCS due to the Lemondogs fiasco, Velly attempted to knock the rust off to help his team qualify.
"So I tried in something like 3 days to get my level back, but my motivation was low after my eyes problemes and went very low after all the drama on reddit about NiP & LD.[sic]"
After consulting with his team, Velly decided the best course of action would be to step away.
"So today, I retire from LoL scene as a pro player," he said.
My statement is now release :) https://t.co/jOxRxzVrGA
