Just Cause 3 Renders at 900p on Xbox One, 1080p on PS4
"We are confident players will thoroughly enjoy themselves no matter the platform they play on."
Just Cause 3 is the latest game to run at different resolutions on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to the project's director Roland Lesterlin.
The developer was asked by GamingBolt what resolution Just Cause 3 would render on each of the home console platforms, to which he replied: “The game runs at 1080p on PS4 and 900p on Xbox One. We do so much with physics and screen space effects, that we are confident our players will thoroughly enjoy themselves no matter the platform they play the game on.”

A recent GameSpot Reality Check episode (see above) suggested that many people cannot perceive such disparities in resolution and frame-rate between Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Nevertheless, Just Cause 3 is latest in a list of games that render at a superior resolution on PS4; with recent examples including two Game of the Year contenders, Metal Gear Solid V and The Witcher 3. Whether players can see meaningful differences between 900p and 1080p is a matter for debate. A recent technical analysis showed that the Xbox edition of MGS5 "holds its own" against the PlayStation 4 version.
However, whether easily perceivable or not, such a disparity in resolution has become a PR hurdle for Microsoft, one which it has so far not managed to overcome.
Just Cause 3, developed by Avalanche's New York studio, is an open-world action game laced with opportunities for explosive emergent gameplay and vehicular carnage. A sandbox destruction video, below, demonstrates the degree in which actions can spin into chaos.

On Xbox One, the game will take up 42.49 GB of hard drive space, which is in the ballpark of other AAA games. File size details for the PlayStation 4 and PC editions of Just Cause 3 have not been announced.
The Just Cause 3 release date is set for December 1 across PC and console. A selection of hand-picked images can be found below.
