Killer Deal: Xbox One X For $400 In The US

Don't pay full price.

Anyone who's been kicking around the idea of buying an Xbox One X lately will want to take a look at this deal from Rakuten. Microsoft's most powerful console normally retails for $500, but you can get one now for $400 if you use promo code ALT85 at checkout. That's one of the best deals we've ever seen on an Xbox One X.

What you get for the money is a machine that can run a growing list of Xbox One X-enhanced games in 4K, including older games like Red Dead Redemption. Some games come with the option to increase resolution or to smooth out the frame rate. Either way, games look and/or run better on the Xbox One X. It can also play Ultra HD Blu-ray discs--something that can't be said of the PS4 Pro.

Now Playing: Red Dead Redemption's Xbox One X Update Is Stunning

In GameSpot's Xbox One X review, Jimmy Thang wrote, "While the Xbox One X is an expensive box, from a hardware standpoint, you're getting a very powerful and capable machine. You'll be hard pressed to build a comparably powerful PC for $500. On top of that, you get a 4K HDR Blu-ray player, which can cost several hundred dollars on its own."

And if you need some help deciding which Xbox One is right for you, the review offers a few possible scenarios:

"If you game on a 1080p TV and don't have any plans to upgrade to a 4K one, the Xbox One S is going to be a better fit for you. While you will get some graphical enhancements with the X, you don't really get your money's worth if you don't have a 4K HDR TV.

"But what if you already own a 4K HDR TV and an Xbox One? In this case, I'd only recommend getting the X if you have the disposable cash to spare for the increased visual fidelity and performance benefits. If you have a 4K HDR TV, don't have a current gen console, and are looking to purchase one, however, the Xbox One X is a great choice."

@ghost140: That's not gonna happen Sony wants your money and would not take less. It would be a great idea to lower the price of the Pro since almost all the sales are coming from the PS4 and not the Pro version of the console.

@ghost140: that would be extremely inviting for a gamer that doesn't have one.

I hope Microsoft will make this its new MSRP! and LOL at Jimmy's Xbox One X's review! Games like Monster Hunter World which runs like GARBAGE on the Xbox One S! Also! BIG HITTERS like Red Dead Redemption 2 coming later this year! It will KILL the Xbox One S GPU! Get a Xbox One X! I know! This site is Sonyspot and IGN's Ryan also said the same type of GARBAGE Jimmy said. Maybe they're best friends? Anyways! Like Sony said: 1080P MAKES YOU A BETTER GAMER!!! :D

@joannadark360: Almost certainly.

Again, buying HW just before E3 is usually a mistake.

I still have my almost 5 years old Day One Xbox One with 500Gb HDD and an old external 1Tb I had collecting dust plugged in it and to be honest, I see no reason to change/upgrade so far...

The Xbox One X is the most amazing yet less inviting new hardware I've seen lately!
I mean, the box itself is amazing, It would allow me to get rid of the humongous power brick, it would be quieter, it would be much more powerful but... would all that be worth a 500$ upgrade? Absolutely not...

I have my Xone only to play some exclusives. (Gears and Forza mostly cause there's not many more exclusives worth it on MS side...)

I roam/wander often in the local video game stores near me and there seem to be no buzz whatsoever around the Xbox One X.
One of the big games fans were waiting for was Sea of thieves which ended up being a scam getting a lot of ppl angry and disappointed...

@silv3rst0rm: I used to use my PS4 as my main console and the launch XBO was for certain games with friends or exclusives.

When the X launched, a lot of stores had great trade-in offers. I was able to trade in my launch XBO for $150 and had $50 of Gamestop rewards. I wanted a console that would really take advantage of my tv and the included UHD player was an awesome bonus.

Now my XOX is my main console for 3rd party games, because they look and perform better on it, and the PS4 has been used strictly for Sony exclusives (which are numerous and awesome games btw).

So it's not really a complete waste for 3rd party, and the few interesting exclusives, especially if you like to play online. For some dumb reason, NOBODY on PlayStation uses mics, which just annoys me, lol.

My point is that I was someone who got little use from my launch XBO and the X cranked everything up to 11. My go-to PS4 has now switched places with the X except for exclusives. And if you own a big 4k HDR tv, it's a great upgrade. Assassins Creed: Origins, Far Cry 5... I don't even know how the original XBO's can run these games now without conking out. Because the graphics, loading, and performance on the X are so much better on an appropriate tv.

It's much better if you can find a good trade program. But if you sold your launch and got the $400 console, it makes it easier to swallow. You'd be saving roughly $200. Now if the X would just support Dolby Vision I'd be set ;^)

@silv3rst0rm: But be serious: It's been a LOOOONG time since any physical brick-and-mortar videogame store had any kind of buzz in it, and the last 3 times it was for Nintendo (NESC, Switch, and SNESC).
