Kinect getting three-game holiday bundle

Upcoming motion controller pack priced at $149; The Gunstringer, Fruit Ninja Kinect, and Kinect Adventures included.

Last month, Microsoft announced new Xbox 360 console bundles that included stand-alone and Kinect-included options. For those who already have a console but have yet to jump into the motion-controlled arena, Microsoft has introduced a new Kinect bundle.

The Gunstringer is aiming to bolster holiday Kinect sales.
The Gunstringer is aiming to bolster holiday Kinect sales.

Announced today via director of Xbox Live programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's blog, the new Kinect Sensor Holiday Bundle will be shipping soon in the US for $149 with three games. Kinect Adventures will be included in the box, and The Gunstringer and Fruit Ninja Kinect will be offered as downloads via Xbox Live. The Gunstringer is currently available on disc, but this bundle marks the first, and currently only, way to get the game digitally. A code to download Fruit Ninja Kinect is included in all retail copies of the Gunstringer.

The Gunstringer follows an undead marionette cowboy on a quest for revenge. Shoot-'em-up gameplay has players traversing through various diorama-like levels designed as though they were the setting of an elaborate puppet show. The game's developer, Twisted Pixel, was acquired by Microsoft last month.

The Kinect Sensor Holiday Bundle will be available at a range of retailers for a limited time while supplies last. For more on the newly included titles, check out GameSpot's reviews of The Gunstringer and Fruit Ninja Kinect.

No offense MS but I'm still waiting for Kinect to get a price-cut and the only game I may get is Star Wars Kinect which is the only action game that I see to go buy a Kinect anyway. On that note MS may have a price-cut for Kinect on Black Friday since it is a year old.

I thought all the casual gamers already had the Wii? Guess if you only had xbox your kids / family / wife would like this. Maybe when the price drops I'll get it for the wife.

I would never connect to Kinect. If I want to work out I go to the gym. I play games to chill out and relax !

The only way Kinect will ever take another step into the future is with PC for sure but it would not hurt for game devs to support new ideas instead of just making yet another shooter (BF3 MW... )

@MamoruNoHakkyou Yeah if Dance Central were bundled, I'd get Kinect. I do think this is a decent bundle for kids, which seems to be the target demographic. Fruit Ninja is about as simple of a game possible and Gunstringer has the look of a Dreamworks animated movie (reminds me of that movie Rango). Parents/kids definitely like free games being bundled.

Being able to play The Gunstringer would be a plus but the that is not a Kinect seller for me. If (When) the price drops, Dance Central and DC2 are immediate buys for me. That along with the available songs that are already DLC means there are hours of fun (and a way to exercise while actually enjoying it) that I will be able to have at a relatively minimal cost. 2 free games and a 3rd game that was actually released on its own at retail do not make me want to run out and buy a Kinect holiday bundle.

I need a hardware price drop to convince me to buy it. The Dance Central games look like a lot of fun but that would be my only reason to buy a Kinect. If only they could get a Heavy Rain-esque game. That would be awesome. Maybe convert Alan Wake to a game like that?

No tactile sensation, iffy sensors, the games are a f*****g joke, blatant admission to wanting to market to the "casual" demographic.... I can't think of a single reason to want one of these.

Still isnt enough for me to warrant a purchase of this. I will probaly never buy a kinect because of the lack of quality titles. There is still good games just not alot.

@gamerboy100 And Fruit Ninja Kinect actually comes free with the Gunstringer, so it's actually one free game. And one that offers less actual gameplay than most Wii launch titles at that, except that they hide it behind toilet humor for 10-year olds. Anyone who's still thinking about trying Kinect, do yourself a favor and hunt down the previous package with Child of Eden and buy Fruit Ninja Kinect on LIVE when it makes its way to Deal of the Week in a month or so. Trust me.

Here's how you know nobody cares (per my earlier comment). We're several hours into this news story on the front page of Gamespot and have yet to reach 20 comments.

@Albaficas For only 1 years? Whoop?... this is 3 kid games, yes. That doesn't mean MS hasn't released other games for more mature/hardcore gamers *Cough* Gears of War *Cough*

OK, Microsoft. From Child of Eden to Gunstringer. Way to turn wine into piss. @KillerJuan77 You already have the only two games that matter for the peripheral, don't bother with the bundle if you can find Kinect cheaper. Trust me.

I'm actually happy about this, I already have Child Of Eden and Rise Of Nightmares so I just need the hardware to play them. This is a very nice bundle.

it would be better if they slash down the price instead of bundling more things to make you feel like " WOW i got more than what i Paid" where actually you are getting ripped , man these people can't do anything at one stretch , first- they bundle crap, second - they again bundle some more crap, third - they bundle the crap along with crap ,fourth - a new version of CRAP comes out with heay cost and the entire rotation continues . this cycle is called CRAP cycle

Sigh... I'll give Kinect until about after Christmas then Microsoft will lower development Resources and support for it. They should have learned a thing or two from Nintendo, either you make a whole system based around your odd idea or it's just another Virtual Boy, or R.O.B. etc... Plus no game development house with any ounce of brains is going to focus on a major game with Kniect in mind, no one wants to get up and move around to play a game that traditionally requires hours of sitting and concentrating, it's just another fad, never to be come mainstream. Really is anyone going to play Fable Kinect?? I mean really seriously...

I gotta admit: I'm not the biggest fan of Kinect, but that's a pretty good deal for people who are still on the fence about it.

Kinect Adventures has come with the Kinect since launch, so you only get two games free in this case.
