Last Chance: Claim The Xbox Live Gold Games For October 2020 Before They're Gone

October’s Xbox Live Games With Gold offering features horror games and two offbeat choices.

The Xbox Games With Gold for October 2020 are timely and spooky. These games are available for all Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass Ultimate members as long as they're subscribers.

The first free game this month is the delightfully-named Slayaway Camp: Butcher's Cut, a campy '80s throwback where you play as a villain named Skullface as you try to terrify the camp counselors and guests in each of its isometric puzzles. It's available for the whole month of October. The second is Maid of Sker, a short-but-sweet British horror game in a similar vein as Amnesia and Resident Evil 7 that's available from today until November 15.

Xbox Game Pass will also add three new games in October, including Doom Eternal, so check that out too.

Man what a weak month - they better be dropping some big stuff - maybe extra stuff - at the series x launch or something (and for current system owners too).

Costume Quest is good but I have it free in a few other places already, got it as part of a $1 bundle years ago. It is one of those, like Psychonauts (another Double Fine game), that if you don't have it, you've been actively avoiding it. They give these away free or dirt cheap left and right.

Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is amazingly good, if you like point and click adventure, especially those of the 90s. For the story it is much better if you play part 1 (and the spin-off Critter Chronicles) first, but 2 doesn't leave you in the dark about what's going on, just a lot of attachment to characters from the first game adds to it.

I've always been a big point and click fan, and while modern ones have been good and I'm glad they're back, I find most are pretty simplified compared to those of the 90s. Unwritten Tales is nice and complex - you could have 10-20 items in your inventory, not the typical 2-5 that get used for a puzzle on the next screen. You might find something you don't need for hours. Also great humor with a lot of references to other classic point and click adventures, and a good length as well. Just a legit 90s style point and click with modern graphics and interface etc.

Noting worth even attaching to my account let alone installing.

*I probably now own CostumeQuest on every console.

It didn't have to be Halloween themed @sshats!

Didn't they already do Costume Quest? Still better than what Korea gets, but Microsoft really needs to step up their game compared to the "free" games Sony and Nintendo give

@deadpigs101: Nope. They gave away Costume Quest 2 last time on GWG. The first one is considered better.

Gamepass has been getting most of the AAA games so GWG hasn't been getting them like they used to.

Gamepass provides so much value that if you have both it doesn't really matter as much.

Anyways the nice thing about GWG is you get 2 of the 4 games per month permanently and can play them even if you cancel your sub.

Sony just loans you those bonus games. You lose access to them when you cancel your PS+ sub.
