Riot Games has officially announced that Coaches will be considered as part of an LCS team, according to a post on the LoLesports website.
Coaches have been an instrumental part of League of Legends in Korea ever since inception and the recent trend of Western teams picking up Coaches and analysts have shown that they have the potential to be incredibly helpful as many Western teams started performing better after picking up a competent coach.
Speaking with LoLesports, Jacob Toft-Andersen, the Team Owner of Alliance stated
“Our coach helped us find a more disciplined version of ourselves, optimize our strengths, improve on our weaknesses and be the voice of reason without anyone of the players having to tell each other off for their mistakes. I cannot underline how important the latter actually is. On top of that, alongside some of our analysts, our coach is also a cornerstone of our straitening, keeps a cool head and adds perspective to our sometimes otherwise crazy ideas. I think our coach has proven to be just as important as any one of the players,”
To aid Coaches into a full time position, Riot Games will be compensating them with a full time LCS salary.
We'll be officially recognizing LCS coaches next year, which includes a league supported salary: http://t.co/0X8jIP060S
