Legend of Zelda Wii U Confirmed for 2016, New Image Released
No longer listed as TBD.
The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will launch in 2016, Nintendo confirmed today during its latest Nintendo Direct briefing. Just two weeks ago, Nintendo listed the game as TBD on an official business document.
Nintendo also shared a new image of the game, showing off a hooded link in an open field.
Also during the Nintendo Direct briefing today, Nintendo confirmed that a Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD edition will launch for Wii U in 2016, which is the 30th anniversary of the franchise.
The Legend of Zelda for Wii U was originally slated to launch in 2015. However, it was later delayed to 2016, in part because Nintendo discovered "several new possibilities" that could make Zelda a better game on Wii U. Nintendo has since announced its next game console, the mysterious NX, which is rumored to launch in 2016.
