Lenovo Legion Go SteamOS Handheld Preorders Are Live At Best Buy

The Lenovo Legion Go S starts at $550 and releases May 25.

Preorders are now open for Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOS, giving you a chance to access Valve's popular operating system on a platform beyond Steam Deck. This will be the first third-party device running SteamOS, so preorders could prove to be more popular than usual for a PC handheld. The Legion Go S SteamOS releases May 25 with two different configurations of RAM and storage space. Both models have large 8-inch displays, 120Hz refresh rates, adjustable triggers, and other premium features.

Lenovo will also release its second Legion Go S with Windows 11--the first Windows-based Legion Go S launched in February--on the same day as the two models running SteamOS. Let's take a look at Lenovo's upcoming Steam Deck alternatives.

The Legion Go S isn’t the only upcoming handheld from Lenovo, as the brand is also working on a Legion Go 2. It’ll arrive sometime this year (an exact date is yet to be announced) and features a more powerful Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, an 8.8-inch, 144Hz OLED display with VRR, and a 74Wh battery.

I'd get a $550 Steamdeck over the SteamOS version of this.

If the higher end Windows version included the Z2 Extreme, maybe... Even still I'm kind of tempted

Current Ally X is more powerful though

@wolfpup7: How does Tekken 8 and Mortal Kombat run on it? I'm thinking of getting the Steam Deck or Ally X.

@martintule24: Those games ran great on the ALLY X. I played those mainly on mine but returned it because I didn't use it enough.

@ps5gamer: It's a PC so you can get it to run whatever PCs do

@ps5gamer: The Windows version will, though the Z2 Go is less powerful than the Z1 Extreme in the Ally X. I wish it had the Z2 Extreme in it or even the Z2 which I guess is supposed to perform like a Z1 Extreme
