We're less than a month away from the release of Life is Strange: True Colors, the third mainline game in Square Enix's acclaimed narrative adventure series. Life is Strange: True Colors releases September 10 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and Google Stadia. Developed by Deck Nine, the team behind the Life is Strange prequel game Before the Storm, Life is Strange: True Colors is the first LiS game that will be released as a full package rather than being broken into episodes that are released over time. However, True Colors will still be told over five chapters. True Colors will also have post-launch DLC in the form of a bonus episode that releases on September 30.

Life is Strange: True Colors introduces a new protagonist named Alex Chen (played by actress Erika Mori), who travels to the idyllic mountain village of Haven Springs at the invitation of her brother Gabe. However, after her brother dies in a tragic accident, Alex becomes embroiled in the larger mystery behind what may have happened to him. Like previous Life is Strange protagonists, Alex has a secret supernatural power: the psychic power of Empathy, which allows her to experience, absorb, and manipulate the emotions of others. Like in Life is Strange 2, Alex also has two potential romantic interests in the form of her friends Ryan and Steph (the same Steph who appeared in Before the Storm).

Darn it, yet another new game I need. My poor, innocent bank account/backlog lol

Considering how disappointed I was with Life is Strange 2 and Tell Me Why, I won't be rushing to check this out. Especially with the insanely high price tag for a video game with no replay value after you've beaten it.

@redviperofdorne: no games have any “replay value” for me unless I just felt like playing something later 20 or 30 years later, which occasionally I do, hence one of the reasons I want backwards compatibility.

I think the new trailer captures the spirit of the original LiS game with a cute, but awkward female protag, coming-of-age story, supernatural elements, etc. Plus, the scenery and music shown so far -chef's kiss-

But... I am disappointed by the pre-order bonuses ngl. Feels very meh for the price point. Might wait till the game gets discounted to try.

@aizusagi: Yeah, no soundtrack or vinyls this time? That would’ve been nice.

The original LIS was a great game and a real hidden gem.

I don't know, maybe it's just me but I have yet to be excited for a Life is Strange game since I finished the first.

I have to admit, this latest iteration isn't really doing anything either. If anything, it seems like every new installment looks worse.

@videogameninja: I actually liked each LIS, but less and less after the first. This one still looks decent, but not better than any of the other ones.

I feel like LIS 1 was just firing on all cylinders with story, characters, plot, and narrative, along with the concept of manipulating time and rewinding it. That power being used intricately with the story and its characters is what made LIS1 so elaborate.

The other games haven’t come close to that feel though. But I think they still had good characters and a decent enough story and plot to keep me invested.
