LittleBigPlanet Vita's Best User Creations

A few months after the release of LittleBigPlanet Vita, we check out some of its best user-created levels and minigames.

Normal

2D/3D

Tapping the left shoulder button in this ingenious platformer switches the camera between 2D and 3D views of the action. Red objects are interactive in the foreground from one perspective but are relegated to the background from the other, which makes for some neat puzzles.

No Caption Provided

Real Big Planet

This all-too brief level puts LBP Vita's invisible crafting material to great use, transforming everyday items in photos into solid objects that you can jump between. There's very little that's challenging between the start and finish lines, but details like an interactive radio and working AR cards make this one a joy to play.

No Caption Provided

[JPN] Wooden Crown

There aren't many LBP levels that cram this much craftsmanship and creativity into such a small space. Built almost entirely from wood, Wooden Crown is an intricate art piece that you get to run around and solve puzzles in. Nigh impossible to finish without feeling like you missed something, expect to play it more than once.

No Caption Provided

The Blank Zone

Color has been stolen from the world and it's down to you to restore it in this great-looking level. The front touch-screen gets a lot of use in some tricky spots early on, but make it past that occasionally awkward stuff and the latter part of the level feels like an entirely different game.

No Caption Provided

They Came From My Nightmares

This horror-themed level seems harmless enough at first blush; there's nothing especially scary about a picture falling from a wall, after all. It squeezes some surprisingly effective scares into the short time that it takes to play, though, and has good sound design to boot.

No Caption Provided

Honey Village (platformer)

This delightful platformer wouldn't look at all out of place as a level in the LBP Vita campaign. Not only is the presentation top notch, but the gameplay is varied and makes smart, sparing use of the touch-screen.

No Caption Provided

Minecraft Adventure

There are a lot of user levels loosely based on popular games, but unlike many of them, this one is rather good. It incorporates gameplay elements that fans of Minecraft will appreciate and, when it ends, definitely leaves you wanting more.

No Caption Provided

Tower Of Whoop
for Vita

You might remember Tower of Whoop as a great, fast-paced level from Da Vinci's Hideout in LittleBigPlanet 2. It's a race to the top of a tower using grappling hooks and bounce pads that's too fun to only play once. This remake is great.

No Caption Provided

The level that plays itself (1P)

Does exactly what you think it does. Get in position, let go of the controls, and watch as you're thrown through the air, collect points bubbles aplenty, and wind up back at the start with the option of doing it all again.

No Caption Provided

Digital Ninja Survivor[Demo Ver.]

Creating an LBP Vita game in which you play as a ninja sprite armed with shurikens and a sword is no mean feat, especially when that game is fun to play. If you enjoy this brief demo, be sure to check out the "Skanda Heaven" levels from the same creator.

Arcade

Clutch

If you enjoy using LBP Vita's grappling hook you have to play this minigame. Swing from peg to peg scoring points anytime you latch onto one that's blue, and be sure to steer clear of the homing missiles that are introduced as your three-minute game progresses.

No Caption Provided

Feeding Squid

This simple touch-screen minigame tasks you with keeping a cephalopod's hunger at bay by dragging food into its mouth. The healthier the food, the more hunger is satiated and, as detailed in the game's rules, you should avoid feeding it gasoline and used syringes.

No Caption Provided

Cat game'fever2(JPN)

Possibly the most baffling few minutes you will ever spend with your Vita. Use a giant cat head to knock small, noisy cats falling from the sky into different buckets. Proof that there's a fine line between genius and insanity?

No Caption Provided

Frogger

This recreation of Frogger looks and plays a lot like the original and, as a result, can only be played using the d-pad. You only get to successfully navigate the road and river five times before the game ends, but replaying for high scores is a lot of fun.

No Caption Provided

Cows on a Biplane

Superb execution of a simple idea. Circular cows fall from the sky and land on the wings of your biplane. Tilt your Vita to roll them off before their weight sends you plummeting back to earth.

No Caption Provided

Galactic Shootout (v1.9)

Nothing complicated about this retro shooter. Orient your Vita vertically and shoot at the aliens as your craft flies through space. A significant update is purportedly coming soon, so not a bad one to bookmark.

No Caption Provided

Inertia

This nicely presented multilevel minigame has little in common with most of the other user creations. Use the touch-screen to guide a bouncing ball past obstacles on several different courses.

The levels done by the people all over the world are just mind blowing. I love that this game just gets bigger and better. The PS Vita was made for this game. On another point...I have a Retro Twin Stick Shooter just been improved with only a couple of plays. I hope some of you will give it a go and like it. Cheers. http://vita.lbp.me/v/-bxr6

Finally getting my copy of Little Big Planet 2 for PS3. What can I say, I'm a sucker for infinitely generating content from the user community. When I get a Vita, this will definetly be on my list.

@BenderUnit22 Cool, I hope you like it :) If you didn't pick it up already (and assuming you're even remotely interested in card battling games) I recommend downloading Uncharted: Fight for Fortune. I've spent hours with it, and I believe it's only $4.99.

And why shouldn't it be? It's one of the most creative and original games that have come out in a long time. Besides, why are you making a comment like that when the device hasn't been released that long?

@tgwolf And what would you say is Vita's best game? Because if LBP isn't it, it's damn close.

@TheEveryMan That's not what I meant. The online feature, in my opinion, is one of the triumphs of the game, which greatly expands it and shouldn't be missed by the players. Of course, the story mode is great, the characters are still funny, weird and make lbp vita's story one of the best so far... I love the game

@cyiroh

What are you saying? You literally showered the game with praise in this comment and then go on to say you're only gripe with it is the fact it doesn't have online. Do all games need online to be great? LBP can benefit from it, but they've chosen not to, and that isn't a crime.

Thank you for posting all of these really cool user-created levels. It's nice that you guys are pretty much offering to promote Gamespotters' LBPV levels here on the site. I may have to check some of these out once I finally get the game!
