Lord Of The Rings New Collector's Editions Are B2G1 Free For Prime Big Deal Days

Available now at Target as a timed exclusive with a limited-time $84 price, The Lord of the Rings Collector's Edition Box Set compiles Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, and Return of the King in one gorgeous collection that comes with a display box as well as a fold-out map of Middle-earth. It's eligible for B2G1 free at Target.

The Collector's Edition Box Set releases widely on November 5, including at Amazon, with a list price of $105. Amazon is taking preorders for $94.50. Target also has the same price for its preorder listing--which is a sign that the $84 listing will disappear next month.

The collector's edition for The Two Towers, the second volume of The Lord of the Rings, is also available for a discount at Amazon. You can grab the new edition of The Two Towers for $26.50 (was $35) at Amazon. It's not discounted at Target, but it is eligible for B2G1 free.

The new collector's edition of the third and final volume of The Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King, is available for a smaller discount than the first two books.

The Silmarillion is the best-known book by Tolkien about Middle-earth that's not part of The Lord of the Rings trilogy or named The Hobbit. It provides important background history on the First Age of Middle-earth, known as the Elder Days. It was compiled by Tolkien's son, Christopher, after death. The Silmarillion Collector's Edition released alongside The Hobbit last month and is the cheapest of the bunch right now at $24.50. It's eligible for B2G1 free at Amazon and Target.

The Silmarillion is one of the 12 volumes in exhaustive History of Middle-earth series. The series, which was compiled by Christopher Tolkien, received new very pretty hardcover editions this year. The History of Middle-earth is compiled in four box sets with three volumes each, the last of which was published earlier this month. The first two sets are on sale for massive discounts--The Silmarillion is included in the first box set. The Complete History of Middle-earth Box set--a three-volume, 5,440-page mammoth--is on sale for one of the lowest prices ever.

The new collector's editions offer a budget-friendly way to get beautiful editions of The Lord of the Rings. The Deluxe Illustrated Box Set, which released on October 1, is about as premium and pricey as it gets for Tolkien books at major retailers. Listed for $325, The Lord of the Rings Deluxe Illustrated Box Set is on sale for $248 at Amazon. It's also eligible for B2G1 free. Still expensive, yes, but an $82 discount days after launch is notable nonetheless.

Not to be confused with the series of Tolkien Illustrated Editions--which we'll link to below--this box set is a remastered version of the 1992 hardcover edition featuring artist Alan Lee's iconic artwork of Middle-earth.

The new set includes over 50 new paintings and drawings. It's split into three volumes, one for each novel in the trilogy, and has a page count of 1,332. The hardcovers are made from cloth and leather and are adorned with silver typescript and stamped emblems. It also comes with a decorative slipcase, three art cards, and two fold-out maps drawn by Christopher Tolkien.

The Lord of the Rings Collector's Editions released alongside the first-ever publication of Tolkien's collected poems. This massive 1,728-page, three-book set contains work written across seven decades. Tolkien had a lifelong love of poetry, and he initially aspired to be a poet, not a fantasy novelist.

All told, there are 200 poems in the box set, some of which center on Middle-earth. Over 60 of these poems had never been published until now, so this is a rare opportunity to read previously unseen writing by Tolkien. The poems are accompanied by commentary from two leading Tolkien scholars about the poems and the author's life.
