Lost Planet 3 developer Spark Unlimited Shutting Down -- Report

It's always sad when a game company closes their doors, however, these guys really did make some terrible, terrible games...

i really like 1 and 2 never played 3 tho I wanted to im sad I really enjoyed going through the same levels over and over again with friends trying to get a better score wearing cool gear and cool weapons and emotes well maybe in 2036 they will reboot the series

I hate to be harsh here and it sucks for a small company to go out of business but Spark was not a good company because they pretty much made nothing but bad games.The fact that they lasted for 13 years really shocks me that they were able to stick around so long. There are many companies that lasted very shortly then they did so I can't surprised that Spark went down. I'm still surprised they didn't go down years before.

I really hope they try rebooting the series or something. I know Spark didn't make the other 2 LP games, but I really enjoyed each one. I loved the combination of VS mechs and gunplay. I remember how tense LP1 mp matches would be when the epic music played during the minute or so countdown. Then theres the cool pirates that you could customize in 2, with the coop and fun bosses. It has so much potential. (I find myself saying that a lot these days.) Hopefully it isn't completely doom and gloom with that franchise.

AAA studios that make bad games don't last long.

Yet another studio shutdown because of greedy publishers. A shocking trend in idustry as of late.

That's sad but Lost Planet series is trash. Specially 2 and 3. Missed opportunity.

bad new for the industry, being less than impressed by the games they realesed, i see a remake of epic proportions of the big 1983 crash...

This start to scare me more than pt, first thq, then lucas arts then konami, next capcom ea and ubisoft i wonder what will happen to the industry :/, i understand people hate cod fifa and all that bullshit games but games like mass effect, arkham knight , witchter, elder scrolls will be no longer possible at a AAA level, not to mention the extintion of high level new ips

Lost Planet was a cool idea, but they should've just did one good game and moved on past the "we're in antarctica shooting giant monsters in the orange spots."

They made five games, but nothing noteworthy to me. Good luck on the devs next endeavors.

I liked the story and combat in Lost Planet 3, also memorable characters, unlike in previous Lost Planet games.

Less than 4 months after they announced they were hiring for that free-to-play game, they must have already known then things were going down, maybe they had hopes but failed to secure some funding.

All of their games were mediocre. No real loss here.

They somehow lasted this long despite managing to start off awful with the Call of Duty: Finest Hour debacle.

LP3 wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that good either. The freeroam-ish nature of it between story sections was a bit superfluous, especially when they forced you to walk all the way back through the base to turn in sidequests to the scientist guy. It's worth trying if you can get it for $10 or less on Steam sale or the bargain bin.

Lost Planet 3... i remember walking and loading times. I gave up on it after about 4 hours.

Should have purchased Lost planet 3 before, I knew it and I didn't.

Thats sad, I just got Lost planet 3 from the psn sale and i really loved it.

I actually some what enjoyed lost planet 3 and found it better than lost planet 2.

I'm surprised this company is still around. These guys were hyping cod finest hour like it's gonna be huge and they supposedly failed because lack of management.

I played the demo of Lost Planet 2 and I found it so awesome; it's a shame that the franchise never got improved.

A company that made a group of bad games is leaving. Not a big loss for the gaming community.

Yet another one bites the dust. I can't really be too upset as this is a studio that has a hard time going above the 50% mark on Metacritic for anything that isn't Call of Duty, but it sucks to see even more variety on the shelves disappearing.

Its a shame. Those developers can only make what the director wants. Its not their fault that the directors, writers, and art directors of those games were terrible.
