Lots Of Classic Mega Man Games Are Coming To PS4, Switch, Xbox One, And PC Next Year

The entire Mega Man X series is coming to all major consoles in 2018.

As Capcom teased, its Mega Man anniversary livestream contained some exciting news for fans of the Blue Bomber. In addition to announcing a brand-new installment in the franchise, Mega Man 11, the publisher revealed that a slate of classic Mega Man titles will be re-released for all major platforms next year.

Before Mega Man 11 arrives, all eight Mega Man X games will be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in Summer 2018. However, Capcom didn't share any more details than that; we still don't know exactly when the titles will be released, or whether they'll be available individually or as a compilation, as was the case with the two Mega Man Legacy Collections. Capcom says it will reveal more information about the X titles "in the coming months."

Additionally, Capcom announced it will bring both Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 to Switch next spring. The compilations were previously available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but this marks the first time all 10 titles in the classic Mega Man series will be available on Nintendo's hybrid console. The first Legacy Collection will also feature a new Rewind function; that will be added to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions as an update. Both collections will also be compatible with Amiibo figures, though Capcom hasn't revealed what they'll unlock.

Mega Man 11 will likewise be released for Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is slated to launch in late 2018 and is the first new installment in the series to be announced in seven years. Capcom says it will reveal more information about the game next summer; in the meantime, you can watch the first Mega Man 11 trailer above.

I played Mega Man 1-6 on NES a lot when I was a young boy. I really liked them. I missed out on much of it since then.

I will probably buy all of the Mega Man collections, and Mega Man 11 on the Switch once it is released.

This is an elaborate attempt to see how much the franchise matters in today's market. Suppose these re-releases sell well Capcom might be more willing to keep it going with new sequels.

I'm glad that they are adding Legacy Collection 1 and 2 to Switch. When they announced Legends 2 earlier this year with no Switch version (or 3DS version for that matter) I thought it was a bit BS.

What about Mega Man/Bass or Street Fighter/Mega Man? before anyone says that SF/MM was not an "official" MM game....they offered it free on their website for a time...so why not?

@no_skills: Games that will NOT be on any compilation includes Mega Man and Bass, Mega Man X: Command Mission, Mega Man: The Power Battles, Mega Man II: The Power Fighters, Mega Man Soccer, Mega Man: Chase and Battle, Mega Man Xtreme 1 & 2, Mega Man GB games, Mega Man GG, Street Fighter X Mega Man, the Sega Saturn version of Mega Man 8 (they will only include the PS1 version of MM8), Mega Man: Power-Up, Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X, and the Super NES version of Mega Man X3 (same as MM8, they will only include the PS1 version). Mega Man 7 will be on the compilation but it will be the same version from the Anniversary Edition and not the original Super NES version with the cooler ending.

@no_skills: Same reason why Megaman soccer isn't being included: it's not part of the main game series and is not canon.

You do have a good point about Megaman & Bass, but I'm assuming that it's considered a "side" game as well, since it's not a numbered game.
