Machine Gun Kelly Wants To Play Link In The Zelda Movie

The rapper and actor wants to play Link.

Nintendo and Sony have teamed up to produce a Legend of Zelda live-action movie, and one of the biggest questions about the movie is who will play Link and Zelda. We still don't know, but now, Machine Gun Kelly has put his name into the mix for Link.

In an Instagram story (via GamesRadar), Kelly said made his case succinctly. He wrote, "If I don't play Link we have a problem."

Kelly, who is also an actor, is a big fan of the Zelda series. He dressed up as Link for Halloween in 2022, with fiancee Megan Fox getting in costume as Zelda. His real name is Colson Baker, and he has appeared in movies like Bird Box and The Dirt.

Before this, Euphoria star Hunter Schafer said it would be "so cool" to play Zelda in the movie. As of yet, however, no official casting announcements for the Zelda movie have been made.

Expectations for the film will no doubt be high. Nintendo's latest movie, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, earned more than $1.3 billion at the box office and is 2023's No. 2 highest-grossing movie. The Zelda movie is live-action and will be produced by Marvel's Avi Arad.

The Zelda movie is presumably still in the early stages of development. There is no word yet on a cast, director, story, or release date. Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto is involved as a producer.

Miyamoto recently discussed how he believes it will be difficult to make Zelda into a live-action movie. "We face an extremely high hurdle in producing a film that will not disappoint the global fan base," he said.

"Movies are just like games, in that you need to spend a lot of time working on them until you get to something you're satisfied with," Miyamoto explained.

As for the Zelda game series, Tears of the Kingdom has sold more than 19.5 million copies and is regarded as one of the best games of 2023.

MGK has openly stated in the past that he’s attracted to children. He’s a creep and he should not be playing a character who often is portrayed as a child and interacts with kids. Nintendo I swear to god if you let this happen I will never forgive you 💀

He's not an actor, he's a singer. I prefer to have a real actor play the character rather than have it played by a singer with little to no acting skills.
