Mad Catz console up for preorder

M.O.J.O. microconsole now available to preorder; features 1.8GHz Nvidia Tegra 4 processor, 16GB of built-in storage; launching December 10 in "limited quantities."

Announced in June, the $250 M.O.J.O. microconsole from peripheral maker Mad Catz is now available to preorder from the company's website. The console will be released on December 10 in "limited quantities."

The M.O.J.O. features a Nvidia Tegra 4 T40S 1.8GHz processor, 16GB of internal storage, 2GB RAM, Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) OS, and WiFi b/g/n support.

The console also sports USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, as well as a MicroSD Flash slot, HDMI out, 3.5mm headphone socket, and a 100Mbit ethernet plug.

Included with every M.O.J.O. unit is a 5' HDMI cable, AC adapter, and a controller the company is calling C.T.R.L.R.

The M.O.J.O. console from Mad Catz joins other Android-powered microconsoles like Ouya and Gamestick. Online retailer Amazon is also reportedly working on an Android console.

Consoles like this won't matter until tegra 5 comes out, now with that being said I wouldn't at all be surprised if the graphical capabilities of these devices pass consoles a quarter of the way through their life cycles

So far, we've got Mad Catz, Amazon, possibly Google, and a couple of others jumping on the Android Console Bandwagon. My question is, why do any of them think theirs will succeed? The Ouya flopped, why will their products be any better?

@unreal101 For starters, I will never buy another mad catz product in my life and to add to your comment I completely agree don't tell me the specs of you console tell me why I should buy this box of microchips that supposedly plays games. Show me the games and any other cool features that "might" sell me on it at least valve did well and have me teetering on buying one.

@quidditch3 @unreal101 For me even the Steam Machine isn't that great, its just another console that only downloads, its the same to PSPGO, even if PSN and Steam have massive libraries of good games, they are still just download machines, to download i have my pc, to use a console I use retail(depending of the game size I also use retail on pc).

@Sohereiam @unreal101 And that is your preference. But for me (call me lazy) but I would rather my Xbox One go all digital then I don't have to get up to change the disk, I just go to my dashboard and choose the game from there.

The big problem with all of these android consoles will be hacking and viruses. Because android is open competitive shooter games will be filled with people using cheats. for games like Angry birds and single player games they might do well. But for the price of a xbox or PS3 or 4? Hard to see them selling in large amounts.

@quidditch3 I had a bad experience when I was a kid.

My brother and I had a N64 and two controllers. One was a Mad Catz controller, and the other was your standard Nintendo controller. Not soon after my parents made their purchase, the Z button broke. Have you have tried playing Golden Eye without the Z button?!

@atlanticmoon Ouch that is shitty how about playing goldeneye or mario kart on the N64 with a broken thumbstick. you have to hope that nobody sees you and walks in front of your gun or for mario kart have someone else help you turn. I have never bought a mad catz product that I haven't regretted buying a few days later
