Revenue increased 15 percent to $3.2 billion, fueled in part by the releases of Mad Max and Lego Dimensions. A number of older titles, such as Mortal Kombat X and Batman: Arkham Knight, were also called out in the earnings report as having contributed "carryover revenues."
Operating income for Warner Bros. increased 62 percent to $385 million.
Warner Bros. said it was the top United States video game publisher for the first nine months of the calendar year, while Mortal Kombat X was listed as the top overall game during that period.
The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Mortal Kombat X and Batman: Arkham Knight sold 5 million copies each. However, this was not mentioned in the official announcement today. In fact, Warner Bros. did not share unit sales for any of its games in the report.
Note that Time Warner's Warner Bros. division also includes the company's TV business. Overall, Time Warner revenue jumped by 5 percent to $6.6 billion for the quarter.
More details about Warner Bros.' video game performance may come later today, when the company holds its earnings call at 10:30 AM EDT.
