Madden NFL 11 picks Steelers as Super Bowl XLV champs
Nail-biter sees Pittsburgh edge out Green Bay 24-20 in final moments of EA Sports' annual sim of Sunday's big game.
EA Sports has become eerily good at predicting Super Bowl winners, having successfully divined the winner of six of the last seven big games with its best-selling gridiron simulation Madden NFL. With the contest between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers locked in for Sunday, EA Sports said today that its annual simulation has picked the Steelers as winners of Super Bowl XLV.
According to EA's simulation, the Steelers and Packers will largely be caught in a defensive struggle up until the fourth quarter, with the score locked at 13-17 favoring Pittsburgh. However, the Aaron Rodgers-led Pac-attack will strike first in the fourth, with a James Jones touchdown pass giving Green Bay the lead.
However, with 1:20 left on the clock, Ben Roethlisberger hit a digital Mike Wallace to give the Steelers the 24-20 win. The sim went on to name Wallace as Super Bowl MVP, having caught five passes for 111 yards and a TD.
The actual Super Bowl XLV will kick off at 3:30 PST on Fox. Gamers looking for more information on Madden NFL 11 can check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
