Madden NFL 21 Is Coming To Steam, And That's A First For The Franchise
EA Sports is bringing Madden NFL 21 to Valve's storefront, marking the first time in franchise history that the football game is on the marketplace.
EA's Madden franchise is coming to the Steam storefront on PC for the first time in franchise history. This year's Madden NFL 21 will be released on Valve's digital storefront, EA announced in a press release.
Before this, Madden games were released on PC through EA's own Origin store. A product page for Madden NFL 21 on Steam confirms that the standard edition, the Deluxe edition, and the MVP edition will all be available, in addition to the game's various pre-order bonuses.
While Madden NFL 21 is coming to Steam, players who buy it there will still need to install Origin and use it in the background, the Steam page says. Additionally, you need to have an EA Account.
It appears Madden's move to Steam is part of a wider campaign at EA to release more of its games on Steam. Just recently, EA also announced that numerous other games--including multiple Battlefield titles, Mass Effect 3, and Star Wars: Battlefront II--have arrived on Steam. You can visit the dedicated landing page for EA games on Steam to see everything there is to offer.
Madden NFL 21 launches on August 28 for PC, as well as PS4 and Xbox One. The game is also coming to Xbox Series X (with a special free upgrade promo), as well as presumably PS5.
In other news about Steam, multiple developers are removing their games from the platform due to Valve's silence on Black Lives Matter.
