Madden Producer Let Go For Violating Company Policy
Producer gets a penalty kick.
Madden senior producer Carlos Guerrero has been let go from Electronic Arts. A brief statement from EA (via Game Informer) sheds some, but not much, light on the reason behind the termination:
"Due to behavior that is against EA policies, including our Global Code of Conduct & Respectful Workplace policy, Carlos Guerrero is no longer with EA. We don't have any further comments."
Guerrero had been a veteran at Blizzard, having worked on Overwatch and World of Warcraft. He was expected to be helping turn Madden into a live service. Those plans are likely to continue as EA continues to iterate on the popular series. Roy Harvey will be filling in as executive producer while EA searches for a replacement.
While this isn't expected to impact the development of Madden NFL 19, the timing comes just as EA is ramping up its promotional efforts for the game. Just recently it announced its player ratings and revealed this year's cover athlete. A high-profile departure like this won't generate the types of headlines a studio wants, but it at least provides some insight to how EA deals with violations of its personnel policies.
