Mafia II embarks on Joe's Adventures Nov. 23

Latest DLC add-on for Take-Two's open-world mobster game gets dated, will sell for $10 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Every time gamers think they're out of the open-world mobster action game Mafia II, Take-Two Interactive wants to pull them back in. The publisher today detailed its latest effort to do that, announcing a November 23 release date for the Joe's Adventures downloadable content add-on for the game.

Repeatedly punching a prone man in the face is just one of Joe's many adventures.
Repeatedly punching a prone man in the face is just one of Joe's many adventures.

As its name implies, Joe's Adventures will pick up with Vito Scaletta's titular paisano, during the years in which the Mafia II protagonist is serving time. The single-player adventure serves as an extension to the events in the full game and delves into the "truth behind Vito's prison sentence" and other underpinnings of the Clemente crime family.

New locations that can be explored in the game include a train station, a cathouse, and a boatyard, as well as new buildings within Empire Bay. An unspecified number of story-based missions and city-based quests will also be available to Joe's Adventures purchasers, as well as a host of new clothes, collectibles, and classic '40s and '50s tunes.

So are you guys saying the demo was enough? I enjoyed the demo, but felt a little bit that the game is going to be no much more. now I found it on sale for $20 in some store, worth it?

Too bad Take2 lost me on the main campaign with the ridiculous achievements. By the time I finished collecting those stupid wanted posters and beat the game, I wanted nothing to do with Jimmy's Vendetta. And why do the voice overs sound worse than the original game?

@wonzan I don't think it was so much 'bad' as it was, well, a bit 'generic' and didn't have much to make you want to go back after finishing it. Even with added DLC, I figure alot of people would have put the game behind them by now. But hey, I won't discourage you from picking up yourself. If you think you'll enjoy it, then go for it. ^_^

Does anyone even care about Mafia II anymore? I would have thought anyone who bought it would have traded it in or permanently shelved it by now.

@Rocker6 Technically this was not supposed to be in the game. They hadn't created it yet, and even if they had at the time of the game's release...there was no way they could have just slipped it into the game upon release due to the length needed for the game's post-production and pre-distribution.

I enjoyed the first half of the game but became more and more aware of it's lack of mission variety and overly-simplistic sandbox features as the game went on. Overall, I enjoyed it enough that I bought the first DLC, which to me felt like a tacked-on borefest. Unless the concensus of the new DLC is different, I'll be taking a pass. Oh, and that 1000-mile achievement in the first DLC is hands-down the worst in the history of XBOX.

I rented Mafia 2, I am planning to buy it next and this new DLC looks good considering you already have one out for it that details another single-player DLC.

I was impressed by the story ,, the graphics and the voice acting plus the Tunes of MAFIA II .....But they must make a sequel for VITO's story because it hasn't ended and also he has to settle the score with the loan shark BRUNO for bankrupting his father....

For a second I thought it said Jo Jo's Adventure and that could be interesting. Monkeys throwing frigs and wrenches and stuff. Steamrollers falling from the sky and killer dog with stance.

@Alex_09 The reason for that is because it isn't a sandbox game, it's a straight up third person action game, obviously.

Cool~ I am always more attached to Joe than Vitto. Joe is a truthful friend and always care about his best pal. Vitto on the other hand only cares about himself and yet act all emotional and righteous...

In my opinion Mafia 2 is hardly worth 30 bucks, so I can't find any justification for this or any of the other DLC add ons. Supposedly the story is great, and the atmosphere is really well done, but the only fun comes from the scripted missions, which proves the city is missing way too much. Some of the best things I've done or seen in Red Dead Redemption, GTA 4, Saints Row, and all other sandbox games were completely unscripted, which only made them cooler. Why build up an enviroment to leave it bare?

If it offers a good few hours of added play time, this could actually be worth purchasing. The story seems as superb as it should be.

This actually liooks like a great DLC. I usually hate DLC, but this looks cool. Mafia 2 was awesome, I dont know what the haters are talking about. Not game of the year good, but it had great story, atmosphere and voice acting. Not to mention the shooting was fun.

Great; hopefully this will address some of problems with Mafia 2's first DLC. @Rocker6 That's just plain disgraceful. Most people would probably would have done that anyway though...pirates ye be condemned to hades.
