Major PC Game Sale On Final Fantasy, Square Enix Titles This Weekend

After a few decades, I'm starting to wonder how "final" this fantasy actually is.

With the Steam Summer Sale behind us and Amazon Prime Day 2019 knocking on the door, July has become a non-stop deals bonanza for gamers. Tossing another sale onto the pile, Green Man Gaming is offering discounts of up to 60% off Steam codes for Japanese publisher Square Enix's games. The deals end on July 15.

This sale really demonstrates why Square Enix has endured as one of the most prolific JRPG publishers in the industry for decades. Beyond the obviously immense scope of the entire mainline Final Fantasy series (let alone its countless spin-offs), Square Enix's deep bench is on display, which spans from early, genre-defining classics, such as Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana, to more recent entries like Dragon Quest Heroes II. The publisher's success has been so enduring that it has lately turned toward developing new games that are primarily driven by nostalgia for its earlier titles, like I am Setsuna. Save up to 50% on Square Enix games for PC at Green Man Gaming »

It's also worth noting that you can save 20% on featured upcoming titles at Green Man Gaming by using the code SAVE20.

Prime Day 2019 starts on Monday, July 15 where this sale leaves off, and as always will include a huge variety of great deals for gamers on any platform. HyperX has already announced its Prime Day deals, which include gaming PC keyboards and headsets. If you can't wait until Monday, Dell's own Black Friday in July sale is happening right now, transitioning directly into Cyber Monday in July next week. Both sales include some serious discounts on gaming laptops, desktops, and monitors that are worth checking out.

I like how Final Fantasy XII is the most expensive. Like, more than XV.

(And it STILL does't have the extra DLC features of the Switch and Xbox versions.)

LOL FFXV for $25. That is $50 too high. You would need to pay me $25 to play that game, and then I'd have to charge you an hourly rate on top of that to endure this torture.

@shadowwarrior4: good games don't need to be included because they can sell without any assistance. What you see here are games no one would pay full price for.

Some of these are good games with bad ports, like CT.

@lostn: CT's port has been fixed for a while now. It's now the definitive version.

Sprite graphics, extra dungeons from the DS version, the FMVs from the PS version, no load times.

@lostn: Funny you say that cause most games on the list outsold DQXI.

@drsw36: Funny you say that. Most of the games on this list have had a lot more time to sell copies than DQXI has.

@shadowwarrior4: It's been constantly on sale from many different retailers for months now. Must have been discounted at Steam at some point by now.

Final Fantasy VIII is soon to be a collector's item in its original form since SE decided to bastardize it for PS4.

@srfilk86: The version going to PS4 is pretty much the same as the PC version.

The PS4 versions of FF7 and FF9 are just upscaled polygons but the textures are still low-resolution. Same with the upcoming FF8.

@Barighm: Releasing it at all is a disservice to the gaming community.

When FF XII costs more than all 3 FF XIII games combined, you know how bad that series was.

@drsw36: FFXV Windows Edition (Royal Edition) is newer than XII Zodiac but it's cheaper.

@Elranzer: Yeah but FFXV sold more than 8 millions copies worldwide. FFXIIZA only sold about 1 million according to SE. Obviously a game that sold as many copy as FFXV will become cheaper quicker.

@lostn: FFXIII came out in 2010, FFXIII-2 in 2012 and LR in 2014. FFXIIZA came out in 2017(2018 on PC). It’s newer. That’s why it’s more expensive. It has nothing to do with the quality of the games. FFXIII trilogy are not even bad games. Just average.

@drsw36: The re-release is newer, the game itself is older.

This is like making a port of the 2600 Pong and calling it a new game.
