Mark Hamill Clarifies Star Wars Episode 8 "Out of Work" Comments
"I finish Star Wars: Episode VIII, and then I'm out of work," Hamill said, but don't read too far into that.
Speaking at a London event this week, Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill told an audience, "I finish Star Wars: Episode VIII, and then I'm out of work," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Some took this to mean that Skywalker--one of the most iconic characters in the entire Star Wars universe and across the entire entertainment landscape--might not survive the events of Rian Johnson's 2018 movie.

That may not be the case, however. In a tweet, Hamill clarified his comments.
"I meant 'out of work' because #Ep8 is wrapping soon, OK? #DontOverThinkEVERYTHING #ParsingHamill #WaitForVIII," he said.
Many of Episode VIII's actors, including Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn) have talked about how the movie will be "darker" than The Force Awakens. Whether or not any major characters die during the events of the movie, however, remains to be seen.
Episode VIII is scheduled for December 2017. You don't have to wait that long to see a new Star Wars movie, however, as the franchise's first spinoff film, Rogue One, comes out in December. We recently learned that Darth Vader will appear in the film, but we won't see him much.
