Marth confirmed for new Smash Bros.

Fire Emblem protagonist will return for upcoming Wii U and 3DS mascot fighting game.

Fire Emblem protagonist Marth will be featured as a playable character in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game for Wii U and 3DS, Nintendo confirmed today on the game's website.

Marth did not appear in the original Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64, but was featured in follow-ups Super Smash Bros. Melee for GameCube and Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii.

Marth is the 18th confirmed character for the new Super Smash Bros. game for Wii U and 3DS. Check out the full list below.

Super Smash Bros., a co-development between Sora Ltd. and Namco Bandai Games, is scheduled to hit Wii U and 3DS in 2014. Cross-platform play between both versions of the game is not supported, but the games will interact in some way.

I am super excited for the New Samsh Brothers that being said, how many redundant and/or unnoteworthy Charecters are they going to annouce before we finally get to hear about some newcommers. I'm dying to know if Pacman is going to be in this. Are they finally going to put Knuckles in? Is Snake comming back? If Snake could be in the previous game does that mean other Playstaion IPs could be in this?

Marth deserves better than this turd. Once they announced it would basically be a pure arcade game with no cut scenes and story it didn't matter to me who they announced. Oh well maybe he pops up in the fire emblem x persona crossover.

Aside from Peach, Samus and the Wii Fit trainer the male ratio is higher clearly meaning Nintendo doesn't have a lot of female characters to use. That's what I'm pointing out. Learn to read correctly.

This is exactly what built up a great deal of hype for Brawl and it paid off, especially since this time around, Sakurai said some characters won't be returning so the new characters won't be revealed until closer to launch.

It's like a gut reaction, someone mentions time the next person has to claim it's a quality thing and mention Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty. I may be sick of both those games but the craftsmanship in each is pretty spectacular, SMASH doesn't come close (and I LOVE smash as a series).

The release schedule for Smash has nothing to do with quality, it is one per system so they can move systems, not so they can make a higher quality experience.

You think the games have changed so much that that amount of time makes sense?

That's ridiculous.

Each Smash game has been incredibly well crafted and holds up very well by today's standards. Why else are all 3 Smash games STILL being played at tournaments while almost all other fighters are constantly being cycled around and/or replaced?

If they just wanted it to move systems, the game would've be out by launch, not 2nd quarter 2014.

The only reason why those games "craftsmanship" seems "spectacular" is because they try extremely hard to replicate real life and do a decent job at it, Smash Brothers on the other hand doesn't give a crap about that nor do it push to be some graphically thrilling experience. It's mashing up characters from completely different universes and aims to be an accessible yet very deep fighting game that's a blast to play for anyone of all ages.

Word of advice, next time you decide to come up with a name to insult something like the WiiU, at leat make sure it correlates with the original name. Putting a word in front of U is just so generic. It's pretty likely that Crom will be the next FE rep. Roy and Ike were when they were the poster children for the recent FE games that came out around Melee/Brawl's release.

Just got to say; that model for Marth is horrendous. He has a relatively small, feminine like head, with big, bulky shoulders. It looks like his head has been shrunken ;_;

Marth is pretty much the face of Fire Emblem. Haha, love the avatar though, been a while since I've seen anything relating to Suikoden III. Frederick's line when you remove him from you party was one of my favorites "I've had it with you!" XD
