Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiative Video Reveals Key Story Details on Pathfinder's Mission
Here's exactly how the search for a new home is being undertaken.
New Mass Effect: Andromeda story details have been revealed by way of a trailer for the Andromeda Initiative. Presented as orientation for the fictitious space exploration program, the video offers key information on humanity's search for a new planet to colonise.
The mission is detailed by its founder, Jien Garson, and is described as a "one-way trip." The character goes on to explain the logistics of exploring new corners of space.
"600 years from now you will awake from cryostasis on the outskirts of the Andromeda galaxy," she says. "Most of you will be aboard Arc Hyperion while the rest will travel on the Nexus with me."
In addition to the Hyperion, there are three other Arcs and each one harbours "a separate species". They depart the Milky Way at the same time and "each Arc is assigned its own Pathfinder." As previously revealed, the Pathfinder is the main character of Andromeda and, in the video, is described as "a blend of elite soldier, scientist, and guide who is tasked with finding a new home."
Long-range sensors have identified "Golden Worlds" within Andromeda's helios cluster, and these are what each of the Arcs are seeking out.
The video promises that, over the next few months, subscribers will receive information on Arc overviews, ground and space vehicle certification, outpost establishment guidelines, and first contact protocols for if new species are discovered. Those that sign up will also receive "weapons, biotics, and survival training."
As part of its N7 Day celebrations, BioWare and EA have also released a brand new Mass Effect: Andromeda trailer. It has also been confirmed that loyalty missions are making a return in Andromeda.
Retailer listings, meanwhile, have revealed the game's box art, a deluxe edition, and a remote-controlled toy.
