May 2019 Games With Gold: Free Xbox One, Xbox 360 Games Available Now

A few games are currently free for Gold members.

Besides access to online multiplayer and exclusive game discounts, another perk Xbox Live Gold members enjoy is free monthly games for Xbox One and Xbox 360--and the latest freebies for May 2019 are here. Gold members, here are the titles you can download and keep for free this month:

Available May 1: Kicking things off is Marooners, a hectic party game with local or online co-op where you and your friends play as quirky Marooners. You'll be dropped into intense minigames, where you can pull some shenanigans and pester each other as you compete (and even haunt each other after you die). You can grab Marooners on Xbox One. Then there's Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, an EDF spin-off where you take down waves of deadly aliens and giant insects invading Earth. The third-person shooter includes over 300 weapons, jetpacks, and tactical armor, and thanks to backwards compatibility, you can play it on both Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Available May 16: Spring is officially here, but if you can't make it out to the links, pick up The Gold Club 2019 midway through the month. Available on Xbox One, The Golf Club 2019 features the new PGA Tour Career Mode that lets you play on famous real-world courses and participate in PGA Tour events like the John Deere Classic. Finally, there's Comic Jumper, our second Xbox 360/Xbox One game that follows the adventures of Captain Smiley, a failed comic book character who jumps into other comics to explore why they're so popular. Gameplay involves defeating enemies and platforming as Captain Smiley makes his way through various genres, his design and weaponry changing throughout to match each comic's aesthetic.

Too bad MANY of us didn't just freaking buy Insect Arma when it was announced Backwards Compat..ugh..

Whatevs! More people who play EDF the better.. A addicting series for sure...

R U Kidding me? I wanted "Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon" for the longest and waited forever for it to go on sale. Then in April I finally decided to buy it after all these years and this month it is out for free and the only one worth playing on the list for me.

@just1mohr: I've noticed it's pretty common for next month's games with gold to go on sale just before they drop. Fallen foul of it at least a couple of times myself.

For those that never played it, Comic Jumper is an awesome game. It's a few good mini-games bunched together to form a comic. The developer used to make good stuff in the 360 era, but has fallen off a bit.

This isn't a bad month. EDF games are always fun and the golf seems cool also, depending on how it plays. I prefer arcade golf, but these can be fun as long as it's not too much sim.

Thats a weak month imo.

A golf game without a 3clickcontrol is a no go for me,i dont need hectic multiplayer party game (especially after work) and a weak EDF spin off(how can ones make EDF even more generic?).

Whats left is a "ok" run-n-gun-comic game with an annoying main character and his on body side kick,strong shooting sections which reminds of Contra but then switches to boring fighting and horseriding sections...all that paired with non funny jokes. For some reason Comic Jumper is still fun...dunno why
