McLovin From Superbad Is Finally 40 Years Old
The infamous alter ego of Christopher Mintz-Plasse in Seth Rogen's Superbad "turns" 40 today.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's Superbad helped cement Rogen as a contemporary comedy icon and catapult the careers of stars Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Emma Stone. Its most famous moment is easily the creation of the false identity of the McLovin character. Today, Rogen acknowledged the occasion by "wishing" McLovin a happy birthday.
Happy 40th birthday McLovin. (We wrote this joke when we were 14 years old) pic.twitter.com/6E4Qa2tVQi

Superbad came out in 2007 and was a box office hit, spawning loads of McLovin merchandise from t-shirts, to the actual replica fake IDs that look just like the one in the movie. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg started the script when they were in high school, with them even naming the main characters after themselves.
In the years since the name McLovin has been homaged and dropped in several hip hop songs going back to Whiz Khalifa's "Be Easy" to "Stunnin" by Curtis Waters and even Kanye West's "I Love It". What up, gangstas indeed.
As Superbad was the film debut for Mintz-Plasse, he went on to shed some of his Fogell image with roles like Red Mist in Kick-Ass and most recently in Promising Young Woman.
So here's to being 40, McLovin. We all hope you're enjoying the fine beaches of Hawa'ii and the best things in life.
