MechCommander 2 goes gold
The sequel to the real-time strategy game based on the Battletech universe heads off to production.
Microsoft officially announced today that the follow-up to MechCommander has entered mass production and should be arriving on store shelves in a few weeks. MechCommander 2 features a host of new improvements on the original game--the most obvious being the graphics engine, which now allows for full 3D environments and units. The new engine affects gameplay as well, with height advantages playing an important role in battle, scouting, and maintaining a constant watch over opposing forces. Mech pilots also play an important role in the game since some have specialized abilities that make them a perfect fit for a specific type of mech.
