Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Still Doesn't Have A Release Date

However, a producer recently said the publisher's priority is to release a "polished and high-quality" game.

One of Konami's next big games is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of the 2004 game. With the calendar now changed over to 2025, that means 2024 came and went entirely without Konami giving any major update on the game or telling fans when they can expect to play it.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was announced at the PlayStation Showcase in 2023, but at the time, Konami did not provide a release date, or even a window, for the game. It was never confirmed for a 2024 release, either, but fans thought it might release during the year due in part to an erroneous social media post. It didn't, so the wait continues.

At the end of October 2024, a financial document from Konami listed the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater as "TBD." A spokesperson for Konami told GameSpot, "Right now there's nothing new we can share at the moment."

Recently, however, 4Gamer (via VideoGamer) spoke with producer Noriaki Okamura, who said, "Our top priority is to deliver a polished and high-quality Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater to our fans." Previously, Konami said the game was playable from start to finish.

2024 wasn't totally devoid of news for the game, however, as Konami debuted a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater at Tokyo Game Show in September 2024. The trailer was pretty impressive, but it didn't have the most crucial bit of information: the release date.

Metal Gear Solid 3's original voice recordings were retained for the remake, including David Hayter as Naked Snake, Lori Alan as The Boss, Michael Bell as The Fear, Richard Doyle as The Fury, J. Grant Albrecht as The End, Neil Ross as Colonel Volgin, and Suzetta Miñet as Eva.

Whenever Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater comes out, it will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It's not the only major game that's been missing in action, as 2024 came and went without a single update on Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto VI. People are also wondering when Nintendo might finally reveal the Switch 2, a discussion that's been heating up amid a flurry of leaks.

I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s pushed to 2026 to avoid GTA6. A lot of games will likely be pushed back a year to avoid that juggernaut.

I just do not see the point of all these remakes, the original exists, play that as it's the vision of the original creator, not this crap.

@Slannmage: "not this crap" have you played? What from the trailers indicates that it won't be a good game?

"I just do not see the point of all these remakes" Taking an old game and bringing it to modern audiences or even to fans that would like to see it with a new coat of paint while retaining what made it special. How hard is to understand why someone would be interested in a good remake lol

If it doesn't matter to you then it's just a you problem

@lucasrezende9: People that like remakes are retarded, I like new games, not cash grabs.

@Slannmage: I for one like good games, remakes or not and don't go around judging other people's tastes to try to make me feel better, but that's just me

@sneakywolfny: "modern audiences" as in people who didn't get the chance to play the originals when they got released, I thought that was obvious, but here is a clarification for you since the expression bothered you so much

This is why I no longer get excited ahead of any game release. They all take so freaking long to come out after being announced. For the last 10 years, I’ve been saying games shouldn’t be announced until maybe a month or two before they’re about to be completely ready to launch. There’s no reason to announce them years in advance. When it comes to established franchises, all they should do is say they’re still planning on making those games. Don’t actually say, “It’s being developed right now.”

Suzetta Miñet has been revealed and (likely) will be credited as Jodi Benson.

@majorstefan: Pressure from the community? Why? Honest question, I don't remember reading anything about it and don't religiously follow Konami or Solid Snake blogs or social media.
