Metro3D Gets Nintendo License
New developer embraces Game Boy Color with games like Bubble Bobble and Chase HQ.
An aggressive new contender in the console arena, metro3D today announced that it has signed on with Nintendo to develop and publish games for the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color. The company's 1999 games will be introduced at the forthcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). These will include games for the Game Boy Color, Nintendo 64, and the Sega Dreamcast. So far, the only official games announced have been for the Game Boy Color. These include Chase HQ: The Secret Police, Puzzle Master, Bubble Bobble, Ninja, Armada, and The Cage.
Metro3D's executive team includes former Capcom heavyweights George Nakayama, president of metro3D, and Joe Morici, the company's vice president of sales and marketing, who had previously managed Capcom's North American operations. "As a new game company with tremendous potential, we recognize the strength of being a Nintendo third-party licensee right from the start," noted Morici. "Nintendo boasts a huge installed base and will enable us to bring our exciting lineup to as many gamers as possible. Our product line will consist of classic arcade favorites, as well as original titles that are certain to resonate with Nintendo enthusiasts everywhere."
