With the Zoo Tycoon 2: Endangered Species PC expansion pack now roaming retail shelves this week and grazing on the wallets of animal-friendly gamers, Microsoft Game Studios today announced that it will be donating $25,000 to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for its conservation work.

The donation is part of a partnership between the two companies that will see information about the expansion pack advertised on the conservation organization's Web site and sent to WWF members. More joint promotions are scheduled to be announced soon.

Developed by Waltham, Massachusetts-based Blue Fang Games, Zoo Tycoon 2: Endangered Species lets virtual zookeepers care for 20 new rare animals, including the Galapagos tortoise and the scimitar-horned oryx. It also features new environments, sky trams, and jeep tours to send visitors home happy. Endangered Species is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older and retails for $29.99.
