With four of the five titles in this year's Summer of Arcade promotion carrying 1,200 Microsoft point ($15) price tags, some gamers are no doubt reminiscing about the days when the only title on the service commanding that fee was Bankshot Billiards.

No Caption Provided

Microsoft is not entirely deaf to those consumers' pleas, as the publisher has updated its official Summer of Arcade Web site with news of an 800 Microsoft point ($10) rebate for those who buy every title in the promotion. US residents aged 13 and up who purchase all five games--'Splosion Man, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, Trials HD, and Shadow Complex--before August 31 will automatically have the points credited to their accounts by mid-October.

The full list of Summer of Arcade games, release dates, and prices follows below.

July 22--'Splosion Man--800 Microsoft points ($10)
July 29--Marvel vs. Capcom 2--1,200 Microsoft points ($15)
August 5--Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-shelled--1,200 Microsoft points ($15)
August 12--Trials HD--1,200 Microsoft points ($15)
August 19--Shadow Complex--1,200 Microsoft points ($15)

Essentially, I'm getting TMNT Re-Shelled or Splosion-Man for free. Worth it, since all of these games are quite good.

Splosion man was the only one I wasn't sure of but I picked it up due to this promotion since I'd just get those 800 points back anyway. Splosion Man ended up being a blast (pun intended). Played it co-op last night and going to be playing a lot of it.

i'm getting all of those except Trials HD, but it wouldn't make much sense for me to get that game for $15, just to get a $10 rebate when i don't want it, even if it would only be like getting it for $5

Looking forward to Shadow Complex!!! I think it is good to offer games for lower points, a lot of people are having trouble finding summer jobs. I lowered ZenHak to 240 points, because of this.

you know, everyone talking bad about this is making valid points. other people, shut up. three of these games(splosion man, trials, and shadow complex) are xbox live EXCLUSIVES. this means that microsoft paid TONS for these games to be on this system, and this system ONLY so they pay, and we have to pay the other end. mvc2 and tmnt are 15 bucks because microsoft paid for them to be on here first. look at what happened in what, april? mvc2's demo was on psn. sony paid for that. but the price for those two games will be the SAME on both systems. you will not pay 10 bucks on psn for the same 15 dollar game on. so most of these folks, i hope you are not sony fanboys stoking the fire, and just msft detractors who own an xbox. my solution? if you want the games, BUY them, get your points in october and be happy. if you dont like what they are doing, shut the heck up and leave it. you arent hurting them at all.

only interested in Splosion man, trials and shadow complex...(never liked fighting games) so WHY would i spend 2400 points to get 2 games i don't want just for 800 points? anyone else see a flaw in microsofts logic? (and yes i know there's people who like all 5 games and go ahead and buy them and get your 800 points)

@VeNOM3099 1. Actually the truth is that we don't know for sure what deals are worked out behind closed doors with Microsoft Publishing about the price points for games. Take for instance the Gears of War map pack that Epic intended to be free of charge. For the first few months it had a price tag associated with it. Or closer to relevance with this article, Shadow Complex developer's said in regards to the price point of their game that they could not see this being less than $20. Point being that Capcom doesn't come strolling in and demand their products to be sold for no less than x amount, they have to work with Microsoft to even get it put up in the first place and you can be damn sure price is an issue and neither of us know who gets what share of the pie. 2. Let's not forget here that we're not talking about $10 we're talking about 800 MS points. These aren't refundable, you can't use them at Taco Bell, you can only spend them on more marketplace items. The reason that's important is because they're the same as gift cards. You're selling nothing, in the most likely event it will be redeemed, but in the event that it doesn't get redeemed (like some 1k Wii Points I'm sure I still have) they did absolutely nothing for some money. PSN works differently so I don't bring it up, but just keep that in mind as a possibility and realize that this isn't a $10 check in the mail.

That's nice, but it'll take more than a $10(800 points) rebate to get me to buy all those games. I already have MvC2 and don't plan to buy the rest anytime soon.

That's almost a great deal! Trials HD looks retarded, and don't even get me started on 'Splosion Man. MvC2 and TMNT are the only games during this week that will get amazing sales, Shadow Complex looks to be pretty sweet, but I'll have to download the demo first unlike the other two. So..I'll save my 2,000 (or possibly 3,200) and be happy.

@VeNOM3099 #1 Okay so they're not made by Microsoft, records aren't written by the labels either, where does the money go? To the artist or the label? You're kidding yourself by thinking MS isn't making much off of these games, if it wasn't profitable it wouldn't be a service, simple as that. #2 5 Full games for the price of one retail game? You're leaving the key word out here, that's "Arcade", these are low budget, albeit fun, games. To compare them to a full priced big budget retail game is absolutely ridiculous, they're not even top tier titles as far as the Arcade is concerned (aside from MvC2 and TMNT). I see the point you're trying to make but I think it's completely ILLOGICAL.

You people need to logic... #1 - These games are NOT developped by Microsoft, though some of them are published by MS, so they don't get to decide on a price point. The fact that MS is giving you back 10$ when they're probably not making that much off each game sold is fairly generous. #2 - MvC2 and TMNT 2 are priced the same thing on PSN (15$). #3 - You get 5 full GAMES, for the price of ONE game at retail (including the $10 rebate). That, in my book, is called a bargain. If you don't think so, fine. But there's no need to spout nonsense.

Regardless of the deal, the whole DLC thing blows my mind, i bought Tiger Woods 10 on release day, by 6pm same day there were 2 course DLC at 600 points each, i mean cmon wtf, why the hell should i go buy a game and then you release DLc on the same day because its not enough i bought the damn game, same with map packs, least RB6 gave you them for free, stupid crazy money flying round for stuff which imo should be free to you when you buy the full game!!!

Why don't they just knock them all down to 800, and Splosin man for 400. Like deal of the week. After the "Summer of Arcade" is over starting the week after, have each game in the order they came out to drop 400 points. And make it available to everyone, not just USA.

If it had been that we would get an 800 MP rebate on EVERY game, then it'd be a deal. But as it stands, this is worthless. Good job Microsoft, you still suck.

Like hell! I'm not spending $70 just to get $10 worth of points back, especially when the only games on that list I want is Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, which has no business being overpriced when it's essentially a polygonal remake. I'm waiting for the PSN release of Marvel vs CAPCOM 2 because the XBox 360 d-pad is unfit for fighting games and I refuse to sink over $100 for an arcade stick that actually doesn't suck when I don't don't like those bulky things anyway.

Hmmm... I'm not sure what Trials HD is, but all the others i'm interested in, so I'll have to consider this. It's an Excitebike-esque motorbike obstacle course game, with physics. Fantastically good, and still a bargain at $15.

in the US i guess its $15. how many characters are in marvel vs capcom. wasnt it 56, or something stupid like that? lets pretend theres only 45. $15 for 45 fighters. hmmmmm, ryu is coming very cheaply here. striders a bargain too. in fact, that would mean that each of the characters is a steal

i dont want jump man (sorry, splosion man) i dont want turtles. i want shadow complex and marvel capcom. however i wont complain too badly of the price in points: reason being... YES they are dearer, and yes you cant get 400 pt games anymore. but do you remember the quality of the original titles? do you remember geometry wars? it had a single screen and fireworks, that was it. in the 'old days of arcade' the games were small, simple and thats why they were cheap. now we are getting larger, more complex games that border on retail quality. $20 (AUD) is not much to pay for a game that has only marginally less than a title i will normally pay $60 to $80 for. i may not get a box or hard manual but i save a ton. and because of that, i can buy lots of em

Only way for them to lower the price point is for people to ignore the things that come out. If people started to just buy games not marketplace related, they'll start getting what they want.

I think these promotions are an excellent idea, HOWEVER releasing a Mini-game basically for 20$ canadian?? thats a 1/3 of the price of a FULL game. There are alot of exceptions to "20$ mini game", but seriously there is almost nothing that comes out on Xbox live for less than 1200 that is any good and PS: To all the games that cost 1600 points. thats fine for people in the states that get 1600 point cards, but in canada all we get is 1400 point cards, so i have to buy an extra card to get that 200 points = LAME that is the reason why i have never and will NEVER purchase a 1600msp game

Why is everyone so butthurt about the prices? Why is everyone saying this deal isn't good enough? It's a deal for those planning on buying all the games. For those buying all the games, you get rewarded a bit and get to go buy something else on the marketplace for free. All those games are great and I probably will be just getting 2 or 3. I don't understand complaining about deals.
