Microsoft passed on Heavy Rain due to game's child kidnapping themes

Whoever made that decision should be fired, unless they already have been.

i liked heavy rain alot, but its not possible that one game can be published by two first parties, sony and MS?

how it could be possible? i have never seen one game published by both sony and MS.

So MS assumes their customers are cool with endless dismemberment and gore, but a potentially real-life scenario, and a pair of digital tits would just be too much to bare? What a backwards country they call home.

What a mistake. Heavy Rain was such a touching game. And wtf? They denied Heavy Rain but have green-lighted a multitude of horrendous games. Nice.

Anyway, looking forward to get Grand Theft Auto V and Beyond: Two Souls on my PS3.

Yet they have no problem whatsoever with games that feature murder, blood, sexual themes, or gang wars

I'm so dying to play Beyond: Two Souls. 10/10 best game of this generation prime candidate.

The lesson for you, Microsoft, is... don't be a coward and never pass on controversies, stupid!

There's a lot of fanboy misrepresentation here. MS didn't want to publish the game, that's all. David didn't say that they were forbidding it for X360 release. I'm sure if, say, Ubisoft wanted to release it for the 360, MS would let them.

That said, MS does need to get some guts.

Any episode of Criminal Minds is way worse than anything that happened in Heavy Rain. What a bunch of conservative numb nuts.

Great. I invested in a company who are a bunch of overly sensitive pussies. Who will allow a game like Grand Theft Auto 5, which will involve murder, sex, drugs, and wanton destruction, but not a game that centers around...kidnapping?

Glad I ordered a PS3. I'm so disappointed in you Microsoft. If it wasn't for Halo, Gears of War, Dead Rising, and Titanfall, I would have jumped ship months ago.

No they passed on it because it wasn't all about big loud guns, over sexed male machoism and space marines drinking mountain dew and eating dorritos.

So many games on Microsoft platforms contain graphic violence and sexual content, yet kidnapping children is where they draw the line!? I don't condone kidnapping, but why they don't approve of it is beyond me. I've seen children being kidnapped in all other forms of media and across all ratings (G, PG, etc.).

But they have no problem fellating the NSA and The Government at the expense of your liberty and privacy.

Microsoft seems to have forgotten what happened in MW2. How is this worse than the whole massacring a station full of innocent people? Its not like the game is going to promote and encourage kidnapping.
