Microsoft Project xCloud iOS Preview Is Now Open

Microsoft has announced the Project xCloud preview is now also available for iOS devices. Previously, the preview was only available for Android.

"Ever since we launched the Project xCloud preview last year, we've continued to field requests for iOS support (I’ve seen your tweets)," Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb wrote in a blog post. "We've been testing an iOS client internally, and today, we're taking the next step by making the Project xCloud preview available for iOS users through the TestFlight program."

The iOS version of the preview client for Project xCloud is only available in the US, UK, and Canada--and unlike Android, only the Project xCloud preview is available on iOS, not the preview for Xbox Console Streaming. At this time, space in the preview is limited (only 10,000 testers for now), but Microsoft expects to expand on the total numbers in the future.

In order to participate in the preview on iOS, you'll need to fulfill the following requirements below:

• A Microsoft account associated to an Xbox Gamertag
• An iPhone or iPad running iOS 13.0 or greater that supports Bluetooth version 4.0
• A Bluetooth-enabled Xbox One Wireless Controller
• Access to a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection that supports 10Mbps-down bandwidth, similar to streaming video.

Currently, the only game available on the iOS Project xCloud preview is Halo: The Master Chief Collection. In GameSpot's Halo: The Master Chief Collection review, Chris Watters wrote, "The Master Chief Collection is inviting, illuminating as it does the enduring appeal of the Halo series: to create worlds that are epic showpieces and elaborate playgrounds, places to triumph and places to play."
