Microsoft Working on Adding Xbox 360 Games to Xbox One Marketplace

Microsoft has confirmed it is working on introducing a way to allow players to purchase Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One.

Backwards compatibility for the Xbox One has reignited interest in playing games released on Microsoft's previous console but, currently, Xbox 360 games must be purchased through Xbox.com using a browser.

Posting on Twitter, head of Xbox Phil Spencer said the requests for a means to do this on the Xbox One are being heard, and a solution is in the works.

Backwards compatibility was introduced as part of the Xbox One's latest operating system update. In addition to playing games digitally--either previously owned or newly purchased--Xbox 360 discs can also be inserted into the console and played, provided it is in the list of supported games.

Currently there are just over 100 Xbox 360 games supported by the Xbox One backwards compatibility feature. The list includes a mixture of titles from Microsoft's own library, along with some from third-party publishers including Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Sega, Bethesda, and Disney.
