Midway Games announced on Tuesday that it has obtained the exclusive rights to create games based on the Gravity Games license from EMAP USA. Gravity Games is a series of alternative sports, lifestyle, and music festivals that broadcast on NBC. Midway will publish Gravity Games-themed games for all major game platforms, including the Sega Dreamcast, the Nintendo 64, the PlayStation, the Game Boy Color, and future consoles such as the PlayStation2 and the Nintendo Dolphin.

"The alternative and aggressive nature of Gravity Games fits perfectly with Midway's approach to sports video games," said Mike Ribero, executive vice president of Midway Games Inc. "Midway sports games are built around our trademark style of fast, fun, intense competition and superhuman athletic achievements. We bend the rules of physics, defy the laws of gravity, and tap into the alter ego of the player to create an adrenaline-boosting, super-heroic game experience - the Gravity Games in a nutshell."

The first Winter Gravity Games will take place January 20 - 23. For more information on the event, and on Gravity Games in general, check out the link to the right.
