As spotted by NeoGAF, listings for the game at Amazon, GameStop, and Walmart have all been updated with a new 2016 placeholder date.

The game's digital pages, however, still show a release date of September 15, suggesting the delay only applies to physical versions of the platformer.

A representative for Saints Row and Dead Island company Deep Silver, which is publishing Mighty No. 9, declined to comment when approached by GameSpot.

Mighty No. 9 is in development for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, 3DS, and PC. In the game, you play as a robot named Beck who is the only one not infected by a mysterious virus that makes everyone else go crazy.

For lots more on Mighty No. 9, which we recently learned is getting its own live-action movie, be sure to read GameSpot's in-depth interview with Inafune.

In addition to Mighty No. 9, Inafune is working on a Mega Man spiritual successor and a new Xbox One exclusive.
